So, by comparing these scores, we're looking pretty even with the Montanas. If we can pull out a win up in Missoula, it would set up a monster game at home against Montana State. I can't remember the last time that I have felt so excited and cautiously optimistic about the final 3 games of the season. These are very exciting times for Aggie football!
From Egriz site. It sounds like we won’t have to listen to the griz announcers.
“ The broadcast team for this Saturday's game is Jay Alter and Rocky Boiman. This is the same crew that called the cat-Idaho game and the NDSU-SDSU game in October. This is their third FCS game of the season, so they should be well versed on the FCS playoff picture and all that. Jay Alter has never called a Griz game before and Rocky Boiman last called a Griz game in 2021 when we played at Eastern and he's called the cats last 2 games on ESPN2.
Couple of other interesting notes on the game. Griz-Davis is going head to head against The Holy War between #9 BYU (9-0) and Utah (4-4). Usually there is only one game broadcasted by ESPN in the late west coast window, but this week there's 2 so this is bound to hurt the ratings, especially when it's a rivalry game. Perhaps Utah being so shitty this year may help, but it's been a while since the last Holy War game so maybe not.
Griz-Davis will follow Arizona State-UCF on ESPN2. That game starts at 5pm. The Sun Devils are the home team and are having a pretty good season, while UCF has been struggling a bit, so hopefully ASU can put it on them and the second half goes quick.”
one of my favorite all-time games was the Ags putting the hammer down in the second half at Wa-Griz and winning 49-21 after being down 21-3 at half. Several false starts at first but they settled in. At the time the most points ever scored by an opponent there. That was the last time the Ags played there.
Weber hung 55 on them this year in Missoula but that included 7 in overtime so I think that regular game record still stands.
I remember that game fondly. Remember also that I heard it was the first time Hawk got a technical called on him (not sure if that's true or not) right before halftime - some personal foul that was not called and he went ape on the whole thing. Needless to say it was spicy in the locker room at halftime, and Davis simply came out and shredded, the 4th quarter was unbelievable. It's too bad that game isn't on YouTube.
I honestly don't care what his personality is, Montana will be ready and use any means necessary to gain an edge on Saturday...this includes the crowd, special teams and talking about the Aggies' mamas on the field to stir up personal fouls.
I will say though from that presser, while Plough would preach to 'Find Joy', Hauck might respond 'No, Thank You.'
I just watched both the Montana and the Davis pressers and, wow, what a contrast in personalities between Hauck and Plough. Plough is very articulate and humble with lots of positive things to say about his team and our opponents whereas Hauck is such a sourpuss. He can barely bring himself to answer any questions with more than two sentences, never looks up at the people asking the questions, seems like he'd rather be anywhere but there at the press conference and looks like he's still hung over from a big bender the night before.
nope you got it! Go to fox sports website and open and incognito tab! You can watch the game for an hour for free and then refresh page and watch another hour…
One thing that I believe could be a big factor in tjis game is special team play - especially kickoff and punt return defense. Aggie punting has not shown to be a “flip the field” weapon with long punts. Also Junior Bergen is a real weapon who has the potential to return for big yards.
On kickoffs, my thought would be either kick it deep into the end zone (as always preferred I would think) for no return. If that is not likely (cold dense air, less responsive ball) then maybe a hard worm-burner squib that would go through many who are not used to handling the ball.
I guess I have bad memories from the game in Bozeman against MSU I was at 2 years ago when Hawkins had the kicker pooch kick and it did not go well.
So, Montana LT Cannon Panfiloff was hurt in San Luis Obispo. Can't see him missing the Davis game without it being pretty bad, but if he doesn't play, would be a boost for the pass rush.
