Wow...hard to believe that he could play with a torn MCL. He was dressed and wearing a brace today. Kind of miraculous if he can play with that kind of injury.
I liked having the high school bands there - they actually let the bands play a little and make noise between downs a few times! So much better than the ambient ‘music’ they play throughout the rest of the game.
I’m probably in the minority here….but we’re never gonna be taken seriously if we bring out the Bossy, Cow,Cow anymore. Nothing says rinky-dink cow school like a ‘cheer’ based on diary products.
I'm in the minority with you, Mike! The Bossy, Cow, Cow belongs in archives of Aggie Athletics not in the football stadium or in the basketball arena. It was ok when we were the "rinky dink, cow school" but we're far beyond that now. I cringed when I heard the the PA announcer introducing it at the game yesterday!
it is one of the unique cheers of Davis. That, in my opinion, is the beauty of college football - all of the different traditions. UCD is an ag school and we are the Cal Aggies as the sports logo indicates. It’s an endearing thing in my mind and in now way “tarnishes” the current status of the University. I think both aspects can exist.
I once hosted a Texas A&M student while at Utah State. When I told him where my BS was from he immediately said “Bossy Cow Cow”. I thought that was pretty cool. Of course A&M is pretty tradition laden so I responded with Hullabaloo Kanick Kanick (sp?).
I do very much agree that too much “ambient” music is piped in during college football games nowadays. Give me the bands any day.
Well, I hate to say it, but I'm in that "old fart" age group now too. I cringed when I heard the Bossy, Cow, Cow cheer when I first arrived in Davis way back in the fall of 1972. A lot of Aggie fans thought it was "cute" but I thought it was corny back then and even more corny now. But, different strokes for different folks... Go Ags!
I'm a fan of tradition, but that cheer seems like a joke I don’t get. There must be some meaning to it.
The cheerleaders used to stand on metal milk bottles which I’m ok with.
Cool to see #2 Rasor in their getting some snaps. I like his mobility.
I noticed #13 Caden Pinnick in there in the last minute taking some snaps at QB.
I'd assume the starter is going to be Harper next year, but fun to see some other guys in there.
Need a healthy Lan for the stretch run. The lack of carries for the young guys, particularly Fisher, is totally bonkers. This team would really benefit from a second explosive back and they have him on the roster. He’s not redshirting.
I am sorry that Bossy Cow-Cow is no longer used. At my wedding reception in Sacramento, my friends rolled it out for me leaving my relatives bemused and me very grateful for such a unique and clearly Aggie tradition.
Well, Mike, you took the words right out of my mouth. I know the Athletics Department is doing everything they can to try and create more excitement at the games get the "typically quiet and polite" Aggie fans pumped up and into the game but that "over-the-top" kind of announcing sounded like a parody that you would see on Saturday Night Live.
