Good teams win close games. Bad teams lose close games. Good things: MH getting better. LL getting better and better. TT still has that majic. Bad: pass D looked not so good. The ball only needs to touch the goal line not cross it. So less of a “requirement” on the field side then perhaps many think.

Fisher is listed in the roster as a sophomore, and in his bio is indicated to have played in 5 games last year (true freshman year). If he played in 5 games, he used 1 year of eligibility. A redshirt can be used subsequent to a freshman year (witness Sluka at UNLV) and the 5 to play 4 rule. If so, I am wondering if Plough is playing it by ear and using this year as a redshirt year for Fisher, and saving him for 3 more games at most, unless Larison is injured - sort of like what happened last year. So maybe Plough is saving him for 3 future years. I could be totally wrong.

Fisher did not play in five games last year. Neither did Souriolle. Both are listed as playing in Northern Arizona and not thereafter.
Fisher is listed with no stats for the game. Would they burn a year of eligibility and not give him a carry? And if they did would they not give him a carry in subsequent games?
All of last years freshmen are listed as sophomores even ones who never set foot on the field since keeping track of eligibility is so difficult.
Also: The Aggie Pride Podcast user account on this board responded to my query in the UC Berkeley game thread by asserting Fisher didn’t burn his redshirt status. I assume they have some foundation for that statement.

Fisher played at Oregon State, Cal Poly, home against Montana and away against Weber. I verified this on ESPN stats, which indicate he had carries in all of those 4 games. Add Northern Arizona as you note and that would make 5 games. Northern Arizona is when Larison returned - although a bit limited. I guess I am still confused or not 100% sure on how he did not burn a year of eligibility in 2023.

Our Interview with Scott Gordon (UC Davis Football Broadcaster) was when we learned Fisher was redshirted last year, in a "smart" move by last year's coaching staff, according to Gordon. He's suited and traveling and on ST this year so it is a coach's decision at this point.

The stats are wrong or Scott Gordon is wrong, which is it? think it’s the stats because they have a history of errors, but I think they will have difficulty correcting the official stats, which are managed by the NCAA. I don’t think they’ll take Scott Gordon’s word for it. If Fisher doesn’t play in four of the next six games, it is moot.

Tompkins catch was across the plane. There was a Viking player who pushed him forward after the catch. I have a screenshot where Tompkins arms are curled up behind the ball and his arms are at the goal line

Appears to be on the goaline. Both fee down in the endzone,ball lodged between ?ower and upper arm area. All cannot e more than 1 foot in front of his body. A portion of the ball is very like!y to be touching the goal line

This one perhaps a millisecond after lychee’s but I think both of them look like the most forward if not most of the ball had broken the plane. The front edge of the pylon is at the front edge of the pylon, and that goal line is fairly “thick” so I think there was a good case for that being a touchdown. The perception in real time with Tompkins and defender moving toward the field side of goal line certainly gave the impression that it was not a touchdown but slowing/freezing things provides a different perspective.

Lucche’s photo is from a good angle because it shows how deep Tompkins feet are in the endzone. The photo in NCagalum’s post is the one the broadcast spent time on and it is from an angle that minimizes the distance, as it was from a camera behind the 15 or so. By replaying the catch you can see Tompkins caught the ball with his left arm and his chest while then bringing his right hand to the ball. Ball had to cross the goal line for Tompkins to catch it against his body, given how deep Tompkins feet are in the end-zone.
