maybe fisher sees some action later this game. Need to get him on space.

probably as good (which of course not as good as Larison) but I think there is an insufficient sample size for comparison.

We won't know more unless we play him, or WRs Robbie Mascheroni (6'4", 215) or Pickett (6'3") - who add length.

Just checking in quickly. Looks like the Ags have this one well in hand.

Ags are pretty deep at wide receiver. Running back would be more logical in development. We don’t have the luxury of observing training camp and practice so I have got to think the coaches have their reasons.

    Idaho sqeeks by ACU 27-24.

UT way more productive on the ground per yards per carry.

I think I’d take out Larison so as not to risk injury.

We've yet to see conference play, but... I don't think the offense is going to be any better until some folks graduate. Patiently waiting to see what happens when coach starts recruiting his own players.

So is TT hurt, we're hiding him for league play, or our offense is more vanilla?

Is this Chaz Davis' last year?

We got into the red zone 9 times but could only manage 3 TD's.

One set up by thr defense, so really two.

Official attendance: 14,832. I hope they come back for the Idaho game. We're gonna need a loud fan base to help the Ags play with their hair on fire in this one.

Just looking at the box score and seeing what looks like 6 field goals in the first half then two TDs in the second, I have to think that the offense was having problems punching it in in the red zone, but made adjustments. Anyone know what they did?

There were definitely some good things to come out of this game. The defense forcing 4 turnovers was nice, though they benefitted from some really awful QB play from Graff. Defense held the Trailblazers to something like 50 total yards at halftime. Another 150+ yard (from scrimmage) performance from LL. Miles had a clean sheet in terms of throwing interceptions. We came away with the win and are 3-1 headed into conference play.

I'm not going to be too negative given the win, but as we've all discussed already the red zone offense is concerning, like this kind of performance will 100% lose us conference games kind of concerning. You can't get into the red zone pushing double digit times with the defense doing everything they can to put you in a good position and settle for field goals. Idaho is going to murder us if Plough can't find a way to scheme us into the end zone. Didn't love the defense giving up some chunk plays in the 2nd half, but I really can't complain too much about their performance with back ups in the game late. Giving up 14 points really doesn't look bad if the offense could have dropped 50 like they probably should have.

Anyway, GO AGS! Bring on the Vandals!

Plough says he's not happy with the red zone offense. Neither are we, Tim. Tough to call this offense "Shredville" in it's current iteration. Still pretty banged up on defense and is hoping to get some guys back for Idaho.

Plough said we have six key guys out, including broken hands.

Next year may be a rebuilding year offensively as we lose a lot of 6 year players and key reserves aren't playing. MH, Hutton, LL, TT, Gale?, Davis?

FTR, Fisher had a nice run of 14-15 yards negated by a penalty.

Watched the first half on the multicast with the ESPN app - pretty clear it was under control, but, wow, we need to push pause on the whole “Shredville” thing.

I wonder if he means we had 6 starters out? I counted about 30 players wearing their jerseys who were not suited up for the game when the team came back onto the field for the second half. I couldn't tell who they were since we don't have names on the jerseys anymore. We're obviously pretty beat up. I hope we get some of them back for the Idaho game.

there were a few modest improvements I thought — return of the wildcat, an actual jet sweep to CJ and a few fakes, and a variation of the double pass MH has been running from under center where Lan got the lateral, faked the throw, then ran for TD himself.

Still more vanilla than Hawkins era but I’m hoping this at least keeps defenses guessing a bit more and forces Idaho to spend time to prepare for more stuff

That’s the stadium attendance record I think? At least higher than last year’s highest announced attendance from a quick google. Certainly looked about as full as I ever saw it.

Based on what I understand of the more aggressive student outreach strategy and past trends we should get comparable but maybe not quite as earth shattering turnout next week. They deliberately put the first year stampede and t shirt giveaway on a separate week from orientation which helps spread out the early year enthusiasm and curiosity.

Did other team aggie pass holders get scanned going into the stadium? I didn’t. They just waved me through. That could be an extra 200 that didn’t get counted.

They scanned us but sometimes I'm not sure it registers for whatever reason and they just "you guys are good."

Teams can be pretty sure Miles under center means a quick pass to someone in the backfield. They have done it a couple of times in two games and thats what it has been.
The fly sweep appeared in the SUU game as well, sometimes the motion without the handoff. The challenge with the fly sweep is preventing the defense getting penetration because the runner is running parallel to line and not much behind it. Any penetration disrupts the play. Dobbins got snagged by the ankle against SUU.
