I said a few weeks ago that I feared there was a good chance Idaho would be 1 - 3 when they played us. I was hoping they would be ranked as Davis needs a quality win to get ranked as most of the tough games are at the end. Hard to move up when you don’t play teams with a reputation.
Tedye Buchanan has been the MVP for Cal in the last two weeks. Hard to blame him for wanting to play for a Power school, esp after he helped the Ags beat Sac State.
Idaho State and the Hawkins family battling #10 UND 45-14, and threatening to score again. They've scored on 2 of 3 of their last possessions, just had a nice screen call down the sideline. ESPN+
wow the Bison always find a way to win. Reminds me of that time at Toomey we were up 24-0 at the half only to lose 24-28 in the last minute of the 4th. That was my freshman year… was in the Aggie Pack at the north end zone and we were trying to be as loud as possible. It wasn’t making any difference as the Bison marched away from us converting one 3rd down after another. Silver lining though is that when I was in the dining commons that night feeling the heartbreak from the loss, it made me realize how much I cared about Aggie football and I’ve never stopped watching since. As weird as it sounds, seeing us losing such a close game to a great opponent probably made me a more committed fan than if we had just steamrolled a cupcake that day — it was certainly at least more memorable. Anyway, I digress… you can never count the Bison out of a game.
Massey has UCD at #12 and #5 in the BSC as of now; Sac leapfrogged us with a surprising bump from beating current #50 Nicholls at home (as you may recall that was the committee's "quality win" that they said helped make the case for Sac over Davis last year).
Can't read too much into this small sample size other than a reminder that Sac is not going to be penalized for losing two FCS games and any win over a team in the top half of the FCS can influence models and voters.
Sac established quite a reputation with the ranking committees under Troy Taylor and deservedly so. That influence will continue to follow them unless they simply fall apart at some point. We have yet to firmly establish that kind of reputation and influence. Hopefully, this will be the year for us in which we decidedly convince the ranking and playoff committees that are not a team to be overlooked.
Massey ratings are based on results, and scores.of games. Reputation and the committee's perspective isn't a factor. Davis' victory over commerce is diminished by Commerce's loss to a weak team this week.. And Davis probably did not.meet the predicted margin against SUU..
We're not currently playing at the level that Idaho is from what I've seen of them so far this year. We will undoubtedly be the underdog going into that game. I'm glad we have them at home and don't have to play them in their indoor arena.
