I don't know, it doesn't looked like gassed players. Guys are just trying to arm tackle and are getting fooled by simple cuts. I really haven't seen Santiago do anything that should fool a defense this consistently. Our guys just aren't picking it up.
The thing is, you have to eventually call a pass with CJ back there. If you put him in and do nothing but the wildcat, the defense will zero in and eventually get plays like that. We're lucky we got it right back.
We got over 200 yards rushing. Williams led the way with 74 yards and 1 TD. We gouged them on the sweep early on, but they caught on to it and stopped it for losses several times.
Honestly all around this was a pretty good game overall minus the run defense. They just couldn't figure things out and have been giving up chunk plays for several games now. 99 TD run for Weber, 81 TD run for UND, 36 yard run for PSU, 61 TD run for SDSU. Only game where we haven't given up a chunk run was against USD.
Back home after an afternoon of tailgating with AggieFin, and seats with the Dr.Mike group. Totally fun game experience, and the Aggie Pack was about the biggest showing ive seen in maybe 10 years. Dont be too hard on the D for giving up big run yards. That is NDs forte. I havent seen the final stats yet, but the only one that matters puts a huge smile on my face. Go Ags!
Great bounce back. Maier and Doss are very good (duh). Offense was very imaginative and really attacked. The d? Ugh. Santiago is very good. His cuts and patience were outstanding. But our angles were so bad, their line beat ours and the second level took bad approaches to the point leading to those huge runs. But we're 3-2 for the first time in years, and we have an offense that is explosive. Fun to be out there. When was the last time we won on the Saturday that students show up? Hope that builds!
