You beat me to it. He's representing the University of California, not a frat on Russell Blvd. He's no longer 23 or 27, might work for a grad assistant. I liked the classic CA hat Hawk would sport, Soch & Foster & staff went old school athletic casual. Kids post game are fine, shows family & perspective. He's the HC now, but a slight upgrade would be preferred. Go Ags.
TAMUC has a linebacker, Turner, who had 15 tackles against SDSU. He is a R-Soph in the roster.but is now on the Senior bowl watch list, so I guess they decided he is a senior, hard to tell sophomores.from seniors these days.
He didn't play for them last year so he may improve their defence over last year.
On the other hand they don't have the defensive tackle who was a sixth round pick and made the NFL team.
It looks like Saturday’s weather is going to be 10’F less hot than today and Friday, high of around 94.
Regarding Plough’s dress code, what i see is a guy who is working his tail off, rolling up his sleeve, and getting it done. I think the players connect with him as do the donors. He brings so many positives, lets focus on that.
In response to your question about how 11.2 is as a 100m time I came across this.
Christian Calhoun actually competed on the UC Davis track team at 100m a couple of years ago. Ran 10.91 wind assisted and finished 5th in the Causeway Classic.
A couple non game tidbits from alumni zoom. We open next year in week 0 (pre Labor Day) vs Mercer back in North Carolina (neutral….might be wrong on location). We’re also hosting Stetson in 2026. Interesting additions
Mercer is in Macon Georgia. Don’t know that I’d travel to that on as the weather normally is awful then (heat and humidity). Personally Western Carolina would be a great matchup (and location), and maybe Elon or even NC Central or A&T. A&T draws a big crowd with a special game day experience.
Here's a TAMU-C podcast about the upcoming Davis game. Discussion about the game is not immediate; he covers other sports and a review of the SDSU game first.
Talks about Hastings and Larison being dangerous, but thinks that TAMU-C is better than last year and Davis is worse (he states based on what he watched during the Cal game; tough analysis to make IMHO). He says that he doesn't necessarily think the Lions will win, but that it should be a closer game. We will see.
The Future Schedules for 2025 shows us at Utah Tech on August 30the next year and then going up to Washington on September 6th. So would we be playing at Mercer the week before the game at Utah Tech? That would be really early...
yes. They referred to it as ‘week 0’ (we’ll have 2 byes). I thought they said it was at a neutral site at a new stadium in North Carolina. But I also heard senior bowl which has been in Mobile. Probably should have paid a little more attention.
Is Plough going to feed Lan this week? Or has the offense truly shifted to a sling first, ask questions later type of vibe? My biggest takeaway from Cal.
Part of me thinks it's strategic to not overexpose Lan early in the season, we need him for every single Big Sky contest -- and as RBs go Lan will take a pounding more than most this season, but it looks obvious he has worked hard all off-season to endure that.
Last year everyone that carried the ball for Davis had good average, and then they had a DT now.on the Vikings. Perez.and Chukwudobe totalled 112 yards, and Lan 109. Hastings threw 2 picks.
The Lions just gave up over 230 yards rushing to SDSU
Plough isn't going to ignore that so I think he will have a lot of running plays
I notice on their depth chart is their base defence has five DBs, several on the small size.
Lan is going to get plenty of touches. Add in the fact that he is a nfl prospect Plough is going to want him to have every opportunity to shine for the scouts. Similar to all the touches Doss was getting.
TAMC plays a bunch of guys tight to the line so we should see some shots down the field and plenty of Lan. Plough said it could be one of those games were the runs are 1 yard, 2 yard, 50 yards.
Back to future schedule….I believe they mentioned SMU is on the docket down the road
Forecast calls for 81 at kickoff. Start strong and fast, let them make mistakes, and get win number 1. Hopefully a decent crowd, but limited students will keep the numbers down
I know it's cliche, but all I want out of this game (outside of a win and no injuries) is a clean bill in terms of turnovers. 3 interceptions against Cal was disappointing to say the least.
UCD offense performed comparably and arguably even slightly better than Auburn's against Cal -- would have been more obviously reflected on in the score without the missed kicks
