What's up Aggie Sports Talk Members!

My name is Brock Galvin and I am a 2011 Aggie football alum. I am excited to announce that my teammate and good friend, Dwight Smith, and I are starting a new UC Davis Football Podcast. We have longed for more media coverage of the Ags Football program, going back to our own playing days. We are looking forward to beginning weekly episodes next month.

Please let us know the content you are looking for in a UC Davis Football Podcast. We are hoping the administration gives us some access to Plough/ players for periodic interviews. Any connections/ ideas/ well wishes are appreciated! We hope it's a weekly source of entertainment and analysis for each of you during your work days and commutes.

    Go Ags!

If you get the access to do interviews, talk to the new guys who are getting playing time that we hear little about. Guys who contribute but are a surprise or not given recognition.
We had an sophomore offensive lineman who started every game for Davis after transferring from Nebraska where he never played. It was never announced that he was signed, probably because he walked on here. He had walked on at Nebraska. He has received not a word of publicity here, not even listed in the box scores due to the stats not using correct jersey numbers. There was a DB transfer from a D3 school who also walked on, no announcement that started his first game after being here just for the summer, But at least he got his name in the box scores, and earned a scholarship in the Spring.

Great episode guys! I love the call on needing a bigger body receiver to step up. Hutton and Gbatu are great, but you have to find a guy who can create those size mismatches. My eye is on the QB battle though. I doubt Miles is just going to be handed the job, but it'll be interesting to see how he readjusts to the shredville offense.

Great to hear your opinions about the last few years.
I hope the listeners caught the distinction that there was only one medical student playing football
[simultaneously. Has anyone else done that ever? The extra Covid year might make it more possible for someone else.
Davis had two football players go on to Medical School in the early 2000 if I recall the time frame correctly both playing defensive line, one to UCSF and one to UCLA. Their playing years overlapped and the first was an inspiration to the second.

Nice to hear, the brains are still on the field.

My Dad played in the early '70's, and having met most of his teammates, have to say there are some impressive resumes, one retired at 50 as the Director of Engineering for Sun Microsystems, did analysis on the Moon rocks brought back by the Apollo program. One retired as CEO ( I believe ) of National Semiconductor, another is a certified Pulmonary Physician at Mass General and is on the staff at the Harvard Medical School... smart guys. When they get together at a game, it's literally khaki shorts, flip flops, a UC Davis Hawai'ian shirt, a beer and bitching about 2-a-days in August way back in '70. Ha ha ha

    What device do you use?
If you have an apple iPhone or iPad it has Apple Pocasts already installed.
If you have a non apple device then you can install the Spotify app.
If either of those apps are installed you can search for the podcast by putting UC Davis Football podcast.
Spotify app for me on a Kindle Fire is both video and audio.

Regarding the Miles discussion on the podcast. I still think he’s going to be the starter, or at least it’s his position to lose. The big question in my mind though with the high tempo shredville offense, is quick ball release. Maier had a really fast release when he played the high tempo game. Miles doesn’t seem to have that quick release. Can this be learned? The qb also needs to be able to quickly find the open secondary go to guy if the play gets busted up. Anxious to see all this play out on the field.

Episode 3 is live! The podcast episode features an in-depth conversation with Lan Larison, UC Davis football star. Lan, the returning Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a Walter Payton Award favorite, shares his football journey from childhood to his current collegiate career. He discusses his inspirations, experiences, and the pride he feels as part of the UC Davis football program. Lan also opens up about the decision-making process behind staying at UC Davis amid the NIL and transfer portal era, his personal goals for the upcoming season, and the camaraderie he enjoys with his teammates. The episode is rich with personal anecdotes, insights into his mentality, and reflections on both his football career and his love for horses and rodeo.

We interviewed Plough yesterday. Both he and Lan were VERY open and real with us. The kind of content a press conference doesn’t give you. Enjoy.

Great Podcast guys. Appreciate the shown word captions as you conversate.

Legit question: Who do you think the Coach was that tried to recruit Lan after he had signed with UC Davis and called The Aggies "a bunch of pansies." ? We all don't like the dude much, so would think it might've been Hauck...but seriously, that's an undignified thing to tell a recruit...especially after he had committed there.

Not sure, but that was an interesting segment for sure. Hope we continue to show other teams our physicality this year.

I actually looked back at Lan's 247 recruiting profile and the only other confirmed offer he has was at Idaho. So it could have been Petrino but that's just a total guess.

I noted that when asked who was the best downfield blocker amongst the wide receivers, without a second’s hesitation he named CJ Hutton. That guy is all effort.

    Another tremendous interview!

Great story about how the players had the ability (and freedom) to improvise on the field to fix the problem with the crowd noise during a game.

This podcast contributes to the excitement around the team and as a result, I believe we will see larger home crowds and more money flowing into the program.
