Mitchell not doing very well in his first game back. INT for a pick 6, sacked 4 times, nearly fumbled the ball... Maier been used for short yard plays and even got a TD for himself with a keeper play.
Mitchell did not do much better in his second game back. Eventually pulled for Maier who engineered a TD drive, but Stampeders lost to Hamilton Tiger Cats (or TiCats?). Weird game in that 15 of Hamilton's 23 points were field goals. Only Hamilton TD was off a Mitchell interception.
Calgary Sun "Maier rewarded head coach Dave Dickenson for giving him the opportunity, too, completing 9-of-9 passes for 80 yards and getting the Stampeders into the end zone."
Really feels like Maier needs to be starting somewhere at some level of pro play or start trying to work his way into FA talks in the NFL next year. Would be a shame for him to sit on Calgary's bench when he just kills it every opportunity he gets
Jake has played great in every game he has been in. If he continues to put up better numbers than Mitchell, then he should be the starter at some point, IMO.
Mitchell started this past weekend and played most of the game in a Stampeder victory, however he left the game in the final moments favoring a sore shoulder and Maier came in to close the game without any real meaningful statistics. Stampeders defeated the Roughriders at home. They will play a back-to-back game against the Roughriders on the road this coming weekend.

"Jake Maier has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unavailable for at least 10 days.
The Calgary Stampeders backup quarterback was placed in the CFL’s COVID-19 protocols earlier in the week, but because players can be put in the protocols for a variety of reasons, it was only confirmed Wednesday that he had tested positive."
The Stampeders finish the regular season this weekend hosting the division leading Blue Bombers. If they win it will be the franchise's 700th win, a CFL record. They are assured a first round playoff game at B.C., even with a loss. Their current record is 6-11. 6-12 will get you in the CFL playoffs.
