Fresno State beat Purdue on the road last week and EWU nearly beat them tonight in Fresno. In the first OT, an EWU receiver made a spectacular, one-handed catch at the 1 yard line. The Eagles scored on 1 yard pass but the EWU receiver got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct so Fresno got to start their possession on the 12.5 yard line instead of the 25 and they scored to tie the game at 31. In the second Ot, EWU held Fresno to a FG but then threw and INT on their possession and Fresno won 34-31.
EWU looks pretty good but, as is typical of Coach Aaron Best teams, they look undisciplined as usual.
At least you lost to the team that dominated the team that just dominated us. I feel CP is headed in the right direction as a program, but it is still a year or two away. The program was broken when Baldwin took over. Davis had a bad day against a ranked FBS team, but is going to compete with the best team in the Big Sky. CP is not there yet.
i watched about half of the Weber UNI game. Weber is physical, they are going to be a challenge.
Eastern Washington game speaks for itself, they are going to be tough to beat also.
It will be interesting to see if Idaho gets blown out by Cal.
I'm glad your program is coming back. When I was in school about 15 years ago, I loved that CP brought a huge contingent to Davis despite being just over 4 hours away. Seeing students or passionate fans doing the POLY POLY (ole, ole) was super cool. It was also nice having one rival visit each year which still happens.
As a Cal fan and Davis/FCS follower as well, I'd say Cal wins by about 17. It will be much closer than people think.
I'm going to the Northern Colorado game with my son on Saturday at WSU and that game will be over by the 2nd half for sure. They are bad. We live 1 hr from WSU/U of Idaho so they are our local teams. My 7 yr old son has become a Cougars fan.
I'd love to see them play here for football. Met up with a few folks on this board last year when they played at Idaho the night before the quad homicide.
