Looking at the FCS scoreboard, Lindenwood (OVC) is playing DIII Wisconsin-Stevens Point and is winning 56-2. How is that allowed? Related question: Can Pioneer League teams play DIII? I know they aren't allowed to play FBS teams since they don't do scholarships.
I know FCS can also play DII and NAIA but I didn't know they were allowed to play D3. What are the rules for FBS?
I like the way the A&M announcers noted that this is like a pre-season game for the NFL. We can see the coaches trying stuff that they've been working on. If the team looks a little shaky in some areas, it's to be expected in a first game. They have to be happy that the team has not committed a single penalty through three quarters.
I know people get excited about this stuff but first half in the season operer. ..This stuff is supposed to be fun, but is it fun to nearly have a heart attack over a football game no fans will remember in a few months ?
I don't think they are beating OSU but they'd probably have a better chance at an upset if the FBS game was first. On the other hand it is good to get a win early and not worry about going 0-2 or whatever and trying to get back to .500.
