Some believed JM could have doubled his hard money elsewhere, but he likes the coaches and system he's in and wants to continue to develop.

Maier is now the starter for Calgary.

Maier is only making $120,000 with upwards of possible $60,000+ in bonuses as the starting QB for the Stampeders. You can get paid a lot more than that just to be on the practice squad in the NFL. No wonder Doss just sticks to bouncing around the NFL practice squads.

Do you know if that's US dollars? If it's Canadian dollars it's less than $100,000 US.

Unfortunately for Doss, he's not on a practice squad at the moment.

In his second season with the Stampeders, Maier has seen action in eight games and made five starts. He has completed 76.4 per cent of his 178 passes, accumulating 1,526 passing yards with nine touchdowns and just two interceptions. He was named a Canadian Football League Top Performer for Week 16 after throwing for 294 yards with no interceptions in Saturday’s 25-11 victory against the BC Lions.

As a rookie in 2021, Maier played 11 games and made three starts. The UC Davis became the first player in CFL history to throw for at least 300 yards in each of his first three career starts and set a franchise record by completing 17 consecutive passes in a game.

Maier has completed 231 of 326 passes during his Stamps career for 2,864 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also has 22 carries for 70 yards and two majors.

Maier is going to have some say in who makes the CFL playoffs. Stampeders are already in and it appears that the final spot will be either Saskatchewan or Hamilton. Calgary hosts Hamilton tonight and finishes the season with home and away games versus Saskatchewan.

Hard to track this down, but I believe Jake became the starter in late August and has remained the starter ever since.
FWIW Hamilton defeated Calgary tonight in a mild upset. Calgary will play British Columbia in the first round of the CFL playoffs, but the two teams are still fighting for home field.

We're currently in Victoria, BC, so my ESPN+ account is geographically blocked here but I followed the last part of the game on Live Stats. Hamilton scored a TD with 11 seconds to go to win 35-32. Jake was 26 of 35 for 251 yards, 2 TD's but he also had 3 INT's.

JM is completing 75% of his passes and has a passing efficiency 20 points higher than his competition.

I watched the first half. Three Interceptions, one a pick six and another at midfield that led to a field goal and the third ended a drive deep into Hamilton territory. Except for the Ints Calgary was dominating,
