“ I don't know about game time, but I just looked at a weather app and the predicted high for Berkeley on Saturday is 85. ”
I worked in Berkeley for a few years, commuting from the valley. I always had two sets of clothing to deal with the weather differential. I also took a look at the forecast. I always take a light coat when going there, looks like this trip is going to be more like a sombrero grande and sun lotion, wink.
"Jack Plummer is the starting quarterback as expected, but freshman RB Jaydn Ott is listed as a second-team running back"
"...The most noticeable development is that junior inside linebacker Muelu Iosefa, who started 10 games last year, is not on the depth chart at all...."
"...On defense, the absence of two players' names is noteworthy: Brett Johnson and Muelu Iosefa."
Fubo.tv has a one-week free trial that includes Pac12 Bay Area on the Elite or Premier package. The game is listed, and you can even record the game in the cloud, just in case you have connection issues or want to watch the game when you get home from Berkeley.
When talking about the offensive line, Cody said that they have plenty of good guys to protect a NEW quarterback. Does Hastings count as a new QB after last season?
Chris Brown (running back) was the reason Cal won in 2019. Aggies couldn’t stop the guy especially in second half. He changed his name after 2019 I believe.
Very fluid delivery by Cody. Tompkins is still mentioned as being in the QB room.
Cody did list Newman was part of the group but don’t know when exactly they filmed the interview.
We have no transfer on the depth chart, except for the NG Uilsone Amone from JC.
Edit: And Tattersall from Cal.
A Cal fan reviews our team. Some interesting points, lack of effectiveness of the Jet sweep, UG rarely used as a receiver, our QBs arm strength (which led to INT)... and I am NOT going to tip them off on a few items they missed.
It will be interesting to see how committed we will be to the jet or fly sweep with Speckman moving on. If you look at his video on the subject it was his base play. A lot of successful plays Davis had had some fly motion, even if the ball wasn’t given to the fly guy when he passed by, so it’s looking at it kind of narrowly to say it wasn’t effective, The motion made the defense respond in some predictable way. We’ll have some new philosophies with the new assistants, and maybe that will influence the playbook.
I was hoping for more out of the fly sweep when it was apparent we were going that direction. But it seems like we do well out of the gate early in the season, then our films are studied, and we seem to go stale, or at least what we did early is not as effective later in the season. Hopefully with more beef up front, we can overcome some of that.
Now what I do love listed in the "depth" chart is getting Tompkins involved as a receiver. If he isn't going to play QB he is way too dynamic to leave off the field. Get him in the game at all costs.
A surprising entry in the depth chart is Porter Connors at middle linebacker. Calvin Mouisset is pretty good and not listed. I’m not reading anything into this other than they must think highly of Porter. Are the two Connors brothers identical twins? Same height, within a pound of each other and really look alike.
Today’s Bee has an article by Joe Davidson which reiterates Hawk’s comments about this being the best Aggie team ever. I really am torn regarding this boasting from Hawk. Saying they have a really good team is one thing, but “best ever” sets us up for disappointment in my mind.
