Aggie women defeated No. 5 Santa Clara, 1-0, in a game in Santa Clara. To be fair, the Broncos defeated themselves with an "own goal," but a win's a win. The Aggies are now 2-0 on the season after a 3-0 road victory over UTEP earlier in the week.
After looking at the team stats, it's clear that the Broncos dominated the game only to lose on their "own goal." The bright spot for the Aggies would be that they were able to hold a team like the Broncos scoreless. This was the first win by the Aggies over Santa Clara in 40 years.
I was going to add, 'even without the Santa Clara own goal, if this game had ended in a scoreless tie, it would have been a great accomplishment for the team.'
Earlier this summer the team had an exhibition match against Nevada, played on a community college pitch at Tahoe. That's a nice working break in the pre-season for the team.
