This is a very physical SDSU team, who built their program trying to beat NDSU...the class of the FCS. They were in the Spring Final, and they've got a good shot to get back there. Tough, well coached, explosive with playmakers. Really, really good football team.
I really think this game would be much closer if Hunter was QB from the start. I agree with some of your posters regarding Hawkins reluctance to switch QB’s sooner.
Chalk it up as a road playoff experience. Whatever the game plan was at Tulsa, that all eroded week after week this season. If it had been a Montana/Montana State playing year, you could see Davis easily at 5-6.
I'm not so sure...he might have had even more picks if he started...now I'm beginning to understand why the coaching staff has gone with Hastings...he throws picks at times but nothing like this...those last 3 picks were awful...
I suggest dipping into the Northwest pool. Different mindset up there...and some bigger, meaner kids.
Maybe the staff can take a recruiting trip through the Midwest before they head back home...though not a very impressive performance by your program to talk about locally.
maybe thought is if you are so behind when you come in, you don’t press so much - but yes not good decisions. In any event, I think these days you need a qb who can present at least a threat to run. Will be interesting to see what transpires.
I thought this game could get away from us...maybe 3-4 scores but I didn't see us throwing 6 picks and allowing this many rushing yards...I think a loss like this will hurt us in recruiting...
