Aggies extend relationship with Sports 1140 KHTK

DAVIS, Calif. -- "UC Davis intercollegiate athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD, announced a three-year extended agreement with the Sacramento AM radio station Sports 1140 KHTK, the department's long-time broadcast partner.

"Sports 1140 KHTK will continue to carry live coverage of all UC Davis football and men's basketball games. Scott Marsh, who has served as the Aggies' primary play-by-play broadcaster for both sports since 2007, will resume both roles. He is joined in the football broadcast booth by analyst Doug Kelly, who has served on the announcing crew since the mid-1990s. During UC Davis home football games, Greg Wong will handle play-by-play duties alongside Kelly while Marsh moves over to the ESPN+ booth to call the live-streamed telecasts on that platform. ...

yes. They often have audio issues or cut away to the wrong angles. Glad we will have someone with ucd knowledge calling the broadcast rather than someone calling us cal-Davis or the Eggies.

Scott is very knowledgeable about both teams - clearly does his home work on opponents. Scott Berry is a good color man although tends to talk over the play by play. Our announcers sound much better than most of the other BSC guys I’ve heard

Indeed. We also have ongoing audio problems at UC Davis Health Stadium. Half time celebration of the School of Education (?) anniversary bungled, barely audible.

I like the Eggies name. Unites the Ag students and the egg-heads under one label, a very inclusive nickname.
More seriously, the fact that Cal-Davis is still in circulation after all the efforts to erase it shows an strong hold on the national consciousness. Proves you have to establish a brand early; it’s hard to change decades later.

Very true. They’re going through the same issue with the C/A logo right now.

My Bay Area friends often ask what the symbol represents or even means. The abrupt switch from the horse to the retro logo has a lot of non-ucd familiar people confused. At the same time, the new (old) logo seems to only be used by athletics, while the rest of the university uses different logos. Not a united presentation like Cal or Stanford have.

All the other UCs should seek an order by the Regents that Cal stop using that name. They need to be UC Berkeley or UCB. In the name of equity. Let them walk a mile in our shoes.
