Third signing announced on Facebook: Mazatlan Harris, 6'2" Forward from San Diego (Cathedral Catholic HS).

Wow, 5'10", 6'1", and 6'2" to go along with current redshirts of 6'3, 6'5" and 6'6"! I know height alone is everything, but you know Coach Gross wouldn't be after these players if they didn't fit the Aggie mold.

Do we know for sure that Jones is redshirting?

I guess I just assumed based on the fact that we didn't see her at either of the first two games. But yeah, if she was out because of her illness, then she might still be in the plans for this year. We'll know more tomorrow.

I reviewed the stats of these 3 players on MaxPreps and the thing that stands out the most to me is that they are all good rebounders especially Shine and Harris. It looks like Jen is focusing on getting more athletic and long on defense and improving our ability on the boards. I think this is a good strategy for the Aggies since we have always struggled to rebound well against athletic teams.

Junior standout trying to make Dons’ season a masterpiece

Give Mazatlan Harris a canvas or a court, and she’ll craft a work of art.

Harris, a 6-foot-3 junior wing at Cathedral Catholic High, leads the Dons in points and paintings. The mindset that helps Harris create inspirational drawings also pushes her to succeed for the top-ranked Dons.

“I’ve gotten some really cool pieces from her, and I’d love to see her do even more,” Cathedral coach Jackie Turpin said. “She’s just such a good kid and one that deserves all the positive things that are coming her way.”

As a sophomore, Harris led Cathedral Catholic in points per game (13.7) and rebounds per game (11.3). Her size allows her to be a dominating presence in the post, while her refined shooting touch gives Turpin a reliable scorer.

This season, she’s off to another hot start, averaging 10.8 points and 12 rebounds a game for the 4-3 Dons.

Looks like a great get for the Ags. I assume she'll sit out next year unless the transfer waiver is approved by the NCAA. Regardless, more talent coming into the program! Go Ags!

The talent that Jen Gross is bringing into this program is amazing. It's so exciting seeing this program continue to grow.

Winterburn was 1-2, 3pts, in 13 minutes in the game against Team USA pictured in the UCD article. ;)

Getting almost 12 mins a game as a true freshman for possibly the best team in the country is all we need to know about her talent. Plus, with all the height coming in, she definitely fills in nicely in the perimeter. Plenty of open looks to be had.

Certainly feels like the program is ready to take that next step up. We've shown we can dominate the Big West, now it's time to consistently be in the top of the mid-major rankings

Great job Russ. I think Holly Winterburn a great get for us. She obviously has very good talent. I wonder why she transferred. Sabrina graduating is obviously not the reason as oregon is still going to be a power next season. But so may we! We will have a huge line up for BW for sure, but now we are lining up on the bigger schools much better. Like very much the reuniting with Megan Jones story. They can now hang out in Davis together and be flying mates back home to England/Scotland on the Holidays. Maybe also with our two English MBB guys. BTW are the transfers not now automatic?

To answer my own question: No. as long as she is in academic good standing at Oregon. But, under the new rules, she had to get Oregon to release her. Evidently, this was not a problem.
