Huge signing out of nowhere. 3 star OT. Had offers to Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, Arizona, Iowa State, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, and UNLV
Well that's it folks! I moved all the other commitments we had to the PWO section. I think that Hawkins and company knocked this one out of the park to be totally honest. I believe we have some guys in this class that will be instant contributors as true freshman. Thank you to everyone who helped me put this together... I'll get the 2021 thread going sometime this week so the process begins again. GO AGS!
Appreciate it! It keeps me entertained. Definitely some high profile guys in this class and awesome to see Hawk attacking the transfer portal. Like I said, I can see some of the guys in this class stepping in and taking starting roles out of the gate.
Tyree Woods will be s junior, graduated in 2017. Played 2 years at Grossmount.
San Diego Tribune from 2016-17: "Woods is probably the strongest, having squat pressed a school-record 565 pounds in competition and 610 unofficially."
Potentially! I think there are a lot of position battles to watch this offseason. QB is obviously the most notable one, but there is also TE, DL, LB, DB, OL... the list goes on. We landed some BIG BOYS on the DL. They have Toki listed as OL on the roster but the signing tweet says DL and he tweeted #blueforce which is the defense hashtag so I think he is DL. That makes 3 incoming DL who are 300+ pounds and the 4th (Masui) isn't small by any means.
I think it’s unlikely that Toki is going to be an offensive lineman. There seems to be an premium on height for offensive linemen. It’s surprising that they’ve listed him as an offensive lineman for two months without correction though.
Hans Grassmann is an intriguing addition, listed as an athlete which means they don’t know what to do with him, since he was primarily a fullback. I don’t know if we’ll make much use of a fullback but he seems like a good one. Likes to block and rushed for almost 3500 yards.
Grassmann is pretty quiet on twitter, but he did post this and tagged Mark Speckman in it leading me to believe he's probably signing on to play fullback. Grassmann can move for his size. would be interesting to get him involved in the offense outside of just blocking.
With how dynamic our offense is (when we are healthy, of course), makes me wonder if there is an "H" back wrinkle we may see next year or the year after. Grassmann fits the mold, imho.
One thing Grassmann didn’t get a chance to show at Placer is his receiving skills. I don’t think they ever threw to him, literally. So it will be interesting how good his hands prove to be.
