Weber holding San Diego State to 6 points at the beginning of the season was nuts. Yeah, SDSU's offense leaves a lot to be desired, but keeping an FBS team that finished 9-3 out of the endzone is crazy.
Also surprising was NDSU failing to score a touchdown and edging Illinois State 9-3 today. First time the Bison did not score a TD at home since 2002's DII season.
Playing 3 Friday night games and a 11:00 kickoff is no way to find a champion. Austin Peay of Tennessee played a 9:00 (eastern) game in Sac, and then a Friday night in Bozeman. That’s not an easy itinerary for a small college. I know all these teams had good defenses but I wonder if the schedule had a big impact on scoring?
Austin Peay is a Central time team. They played (home time kickoffs) at 8pm at Sac and 6pm in Bozeman but you are absolutely correct that travel and jet lag likely impacted their quality of play.
the first rule of the internet is ‘don’t let facts get in the way of a good rant!’ So, I’m sticking with my original rant despite your explanation! Stupid Friday night games
Exactly. Friday night is for HS...certainly not for college football. The FCS and Pac 12 having important games on Friday cheapens the product. Totally agree with you on the weariness on the student athletes.
NDSU looks like way to much for Montana State. i think Choate was really confident going in, but speed and interior line killing MSU. 22-7 early 2nd quarter. Looking like last years wipe out.
Not shocked by either outcome but thought bobcat defense would be better. Both big sky offenses were flawed, especially Weber without their back. Subpar QB play
It won't happen in my lifetime, but NDSU could move right into the B1G 10 or Big XII. They have a recent record of football success against teams in those conferences and they already wrestle in the Big XII. Don't think either of those conferences is looking to move into the Dakotas, though. Not a whole lot of TV viewers there.
