Soph Brandon McIlwan played in most of their games. He is a runner, occasional thrower but was a turnover machine. He was bad in their 3 game losing streak. The freshman moved ahead of him late in the season. Surprised at the lack of talent at that position
Well the point is that we’ll be a veteran offense this time around. Hopefully Cal won’t have a five star freshman receiver this time. That guy was uncontainable.
Weber making the list is a head scratcher: “Defensively, the Wildcats lose six First Team All-Big Sky players”. I would think they have to fall off defensively due to that,
So they’re a top ten pick, even with the acknowledgement “Jake Constantine is back at quarterback after an up-and-down season in his first year as a starter.” Kind of a reach.
Mentioned the Gabrud thing in another thread but rumor is he is looking at Wazzou. That would be such a PERFECT FIT. Gubrud would thrive. Cougs lose Minshaw, need a QB, but do have some young talent at QB... would be interesting. (Still needs NCAA to give him extra year)
I think its a stretch he gets another year....but what do I know.
He redshirted in '14, played '15, '16, '17, and 5 games in 2018.
I get that he played the minimum 1/3 of EWU's games, but.....I think the question might be "Could he have play more games in '18, but coaches decided to roll with Barriere?" In that case, I think he's done. Pretty sure EWU and Gubrud did a pretty job of making things seem like he was too hurt to play in any case.
A waiver of the five-year period of eligibility is designed to provide a student-athlete with the opportunity to participate in four seasons of intercollegiate competition within a five-year period. This waiver may be granted, based upon objective evidence, for reasons that are beyond the control of the student athlete or the institution, which deprive the student-athlete of the opportunity to participate for more than one season in his/her sport within the five-year period.”
The 30% rule applies to scheduled games for redshirts so it doesn’t factor, as he already used his redshirt year, and if he hadn’t he wouldn’t qualify anyway as five games are in excess of 30% of the scheduled games. I’m assuming his redshirt freshman year wasn’t beyond his and the teams control.
He lost most of two seasons to injury (per an article i read but i havent spent time to track down the second injury?) so he would be eligible to pursue it if this is true.
