I hadn't seen this before so maybe I missed it or it was just scheduled recently. The men and the women have scheduled a exhibition double header to kick off their seasons. The women will play Cal State East Bay at 5:30 pm on Thursday, November 1st, followed by the men taking on Dominican University at 7:30 pm.
The Fan Fest on Friday, October 26th at 6 pm, and then the exhibition double header on November 1st is a great way to get the basketball season underway for the Aggies. Great job by the athletics department for scheduling these events.
I think both the men and the women have the potential to be very impressive this year.
Coaches picked CSUN for the women over Davis? They must favor Fluker over Morgan Bertsch. Loss of our three key senior shooters might have something to do with it too.
Yeah, replacing 3/5 of your starting lineup can be tough, but it certainly seems like the Ags have the pieces to step right in. I must admit that I don't know what CSUN has returning other than Fluker, so it'll be interesting to see how this season plays out. Go Ags!
when Bertsch and Fluker went head to head last year in Davis, Fluker dominated until Gross went big and played Anderson and Bertsch at the same time. I’m assuming she’ll do the same with Emma Gibb or newcomer Sage Stobbart (6’4”) this year.
Yeah, I think I remember that game. CSUN also had another tall player (I want to say about 6'3") that really killed us in the BWT championship game. Seems like we focused so much on Fluker that the other player dominated (not sure if she's back). Of course it didn't help that our 3 pt shooting was awful that game. Big arena, with few fans in it, really plays tricks on the depth perception.
Looking forward to seeing Stobbart play. Highly regarded player from Canada and has been learning from the best (Bertsch) for a year. Throw in the development of Hall and Bessolo, and outside shooting from Toole, and it should be a great year. Have to get over the BWT hump, though. I've seen dominate teams go down in flames in Anaheim the last two years.
Gun, still see sage at 6’ 3” on roster. I think 1” in height can be easily made up in strength and desire and sage has all of that. I look forward seeing cierra mckowen knock down those 3s like she did in her jc days. Bessolo and hall, no problemo there whatsoever. I don’t see a back slide with this bunch,
I thought our strength last year was our maturity and depth along with a great inside and outside presence. It's tough to replace the Splash Sisters though. They were so unselfish with a good chemistry and could light up the nets but Jen Gross and her staff have elevated the program to the point that we seem reload rather than rebuild annually. We've got some highly regarded new players so it will be interesting to see how they all pieces fit together.
