It will be fun to see the different line ups that Jen Gross can put on the floor this year including a "twin towers" line up when both Bertsch and Stobbart are on the floor together. Morgan has improved her outside shot so we could see her out at the high post with Stobbart inside too. That will make for some tough matchups for our opponents.
Bertsch will be pretty unstoppable if she gets the outside game to match (or come close to) her inside and driving game. But it'll be the development of Bessolo and Hall that will really dictate how this season goes.
Hall and Bessolo will certainly be key players for the Aggies this year. All the returning players will have a lot of valuable experience behind them after last year's run in the WNIT.
We have a couple of newcomers, true freshman, Makaila Sanders, and JC transfer, Cierra McKeon, who bring sensational scoring abilities to the Ags this year as well. Junior Utah transfer, Katie Toole has two years of PAC 12 experience and RFr Kayla Conrad was an exceptional player in high school. The speed and intensity of the college game is usually a big adjustment for new players but, as we've seen with Hall and Bessolo, Jen Gross is now getting players with the athletic ability to be able to step in and contribute early in their careers.
The challenge for this team will be how well they come together and execute on the same page with each other. That may take some time after losing the "splash sisters" to graduation last year.
I agree, the home OOC schedule is a bit thin but it seems like up and coming mid-majors like the Aggies have a tough time getting better OOC opponents to come to the Pavilion. The men and the women generally have to be road warriors if they are going to play against the bigger name programs. After the great year we had last year that included wins over WSU, St Mary's, Yale, Wyoming, and Kansas State, I thought we might see some bigger names coming to the Pavilion this year.
