This guy looks like the real deal! I did not think we had anymore open spots or scholarships on the team. Is he the next Ogubalu?

He looks great on film...don't know the level of competition, but I do like the way he finishes at the basket. Certainly looks like he has the skills that the coaching staff can develop.

    Backgroung article.

    Go Ags!

http://verbalcommits.com/schools/uc-davis According to this site we had one scholarship left.

But more importantly, there is a new pre-season basketball tournament that 's played in Belfast N Ireland. Can you say road trip!

He looks good on film and is another lefty along with Mooney. We may have been his only offer but Les is really good at finding kids who fly under the radar and fit his basketball philosophy. I seem to remember Les mentioning something in an interview last season about possibly landing an international recruit.

We lost out to Colorado on Shance Gatling who is a junior transfer from Niagara. Gatling is a phenomenal 3 point shooter. Fuller looks like he has a variety of offensive skills and finishes above the rim. I'm excited about the team for this fall when several of our recruits become eligible after transferring in or were red shirted this past season.

Are the Ags going to be in the Ireland tournament?
  • eastcoastag

    Not that I know of.
I guess i should have been more clear about that. The only reason I mentioned Ireland was because Caleb is from England and playing in that tournament would give his friends back home a chance to see him play. Also would be a great excuse for me to go back to N Ireland.

Last seasons tournament was 4 schools. So far for this upcoming season the University of Buffalo is the only school entered.

The more I read about Fuller and watch he on video, the more he looks like he could be a very special player for us. The following British basketball website has him listed as a 6'6, 4-star SG with a 6'10 wingspan and they have him ranked as their #1 player for their 2017 UK camp:

I agree with blue.. what is an interesting question is: how do we get these foreign players? I can’t imagine Les traveling to the UK to actually see this guy. Is it possible our budget can sustain this? Or as is more likely this is all done on line with consults with the UK guys. Great job by Les to get this very good player!

I do recall Kevin Blue saying in an interview that he wants to recruit internationally. I think it's because he perceives UC Davis as an international university. Therefore, recruiting internationally is likely part of our budget, and I'm not surprised by recruiting there.

He looks impressive. Nice drives to the bucket for layups with either hand and nailing 3's. He's playing on the Under 20 Great Britain squad and scored a team high 22 in their 69-63 loss to Germany and had another team high with 20 in a 80-70 loss to Montenegro. Deng Camp re-ranked their Top 50 Great Britain players and kept Fuller at #1. He may have the talent and experience to play as a true freshman for the Ags.

Agreed...with his extensive international experience, he's the one true freshman that I bet will see playing time this year.

From the sound of that highlight clip, he sounds like the Monica Seles of college basketball. :scream:

Caleb Fuller scored a team high 11 pts, 3 rebs, 2 steals but Britain lost to Croatia in the Round of 16 at U20 Fiba Euro Championships

The FIBA website is a nice find. It has complete stats for all the teams and players in European Championships. Fuller has averaged 9.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 4 games. He is 6'5 which is good size for a shooting guard.

GB has lost all of their games so far to Turkey, Montenegro, Lithuania and Croatia. The FIBA Team World Rankings has GB at #39, Turkey #17, Montenegro #31, Lithuania #6 and Croatia #8. GB will play #9 Greece next.

Les has an interesting network in Europe . He seems to have a large number of ex players having long pro careers in Europe after or in lieu of the NBA. The Bradley and now Davis flow of players to the pro ranks in Europe has been steady. Getting Davis exposure and the name to European prep players may allow a few more to come and play at UCD.

In the consolation bracket- Caleb Fuller's Great Britain team won - beating Greece 77-64.
Caleb Fuller had 8 pts, 6 rebs, 2 assists, 1 steal

...not bad, considering there are players in U20 that are 2 years older...and who have had multiple years of playing on professional & club teams in Europe.

Next game is vs. Ukraine on Saturday - still playing for spots 9-12 in the final finishing order
