I hope so too. I like these games a lot. The last time we played down there in the old stadium they blew us out 52-3..I think, but I believe that 10,000 Aggies fans made the trip..?? Sorry, at my age the mind starts getting fuzzy and may even make things up!
Anyway, these are games that Aggie fans will travel to in groves and, if we have improved significantly by then, we could have a really big following on hand. The Aggies will be fired up big time and could make the game interesting for a while at least or maybe even who knows what could happen. Big paycheck, lots of Aggie fan interest and just down the road...there's a lot to like about these games if we come away healthy.
Yes, the 52-3 game was aided by our veteran QB leaving the team to start a religious ministry. So we started a true freshman at quarterback, a QB who went on to a mediocre career.
When you lose 52-3 fewer fans make the next trip. You then have fewer fans, trip making or not. Leaves a bad taste.
If I recall correctly the mediocre QB was undefeated against Sac State in four games. Wish our current QB was undefeated against them.
The game really illustrated our inability to cover or tackle a five star receiver. This remains our biggest problem when playing a good team even at our level, when a quick/fast guy gets th ball with a little space it’s a touchdown.
What ever became of Denham? He had real talent as a QB. I have no idea how he did as a preacher. I can recall sitting in front of his father during a game and hear his loud prayers before each play asking Jesus to please intervene for his son. It was a very strange experience to all of us around him. He must have been a preacher too.

The last Cal game includes debut of safety Ernest Sayles III. His younger brother is a linebacker on our roster and played some two years ago, perhaps starting a game; last year apparently redshirted. Was an injury involved?
"The Nevada football team has finalized its non-conference schedule for the 2020 season with the addition of Big Ten power Penn State and long-time foe UC Davis to the schedule.
"Nevada will open the 2020 campaign at home against UC Davis at Mackay Stadium on Aug. 29. The Wolf Pack and the Aggies have met 54 times but this will mark just the third meeting since Nevada moved up to the FBS level in 1991."
I wonder if the Wolfpack will be in school at that point? Always an energy filled stadium and a fun venue for the fans. A bunch of us got together for dinner the night before, then the alumni association had a reception which was one of the better ones.
i remember a pregame at the Eldorado (my wife won two of the raffle prizes, before she did her customary winning at the slots) before the Saturday game. i think the pregame last time (a Thursday) was on-campus -> we didn't make it up for that. took forever to get a bus.
I think we tried. We ended up walking towards the casino and were able to flag down a taxi. But next year if Mrs. Dr. Mike hits it big, maybe we can get a limo :).
i don't think it would matter if we did Uber, a taxi or a limo....the string of cars going down the 'hill' toward beautiful downtown Reno was ridiculous. i thought we just ended up walking it. we'd have to hire a helicopter to make it back faster.
i think the last year my nephew who lives in Sparks gave us a ride home. he knew some backway around the campus and into the Silver Legacy that avoided all the post-game traffic.
