The Aggies return to the Pavilion today after a 12 day break over the holidays for a 2 pm game against Dominican University from San Rafael. The Ags have won 5 of their last 6 games after getting off to a rough start early in the season. Dominican is a very good D2 team out of the PacWest conference that has won 8 of their last 9 games.
Aggie fans will get the see the nation's D2 scoring leader in action today when the Penguins take the floor. Natalie Diaz, a 6' Sr G from Soquel, leads the nation with a 32.1 ppg average. She also hauls in 9 rebounds per game as well. She coming off a 35 point performance in the Penguins' win over Cal State Monterey Bay and poured in 41 against Concordia.
Dominican will be smaller than the Ags but they will counter the size difference with quickness and good shooting. The Ags will have a significant height advantage in this game and Morgan Bertsch could be a nightmare for the Penguins if she gets on a roll.
Nice to see the 3 point shooting coming around, 15-27 today for 56% and 54% shooting overall. The Aggie men were 2-19 at one point in their game against LMU and many of those were wide open looks. Maybe the men should have a few practices with the women and get some tips from them on 3 point shooting...
