Fresno Bee: Central High QB Trent Tompkins makes his college choice: UC Davis. What he’s saying
December 05, 2018 12:52 PM
"A home visit by UC Davis football coach Dan Hawkins was more than enough for Trent Tompkins.
"Central High’s senior quarterback told Hawkins and his son, Aggies wide receivers coach Cody Hawkins, that he’ll continue his playing career at UC Davis.
“ 'I love Coach Hawkins, Coach (offensive coordinator Tim) Plough,” Tompkins said. “I love it over there. I had a great time on my visit on Saturday. I had an absolutely great time. The school is beautiful and the education is amazing. It’s just a lot of great things going on.' "
Article goes on to note his numerous records, and his 5'11" height possibly keeping large schools away.
I know we already had our discussion about Trent Tompkins but with their season wrapped up after a loss to Folsom these are his final stats for the year...
Tompkins is going to have to work twice as hard and learn twice as much both on and off the field. Hope he's ready to work, because that is what's required to stick with the Hawkins program.
DE Cade Albright*** has blown up with offers from Yale, Utah, Utah State, Tulane and UCLA. He has a picture of 15 letters from Utah on the counter ... I dunno, strikes me as ridiculous.
I doubt Albright picks us. There was an article I was reading in which he was basically quoted as saying UCLA was his dream school which he has since picked up an offer from. That being said, I believe we are going to pick up a couple more commitments here before the early signing date.
RB Peyton Dixon has stated he will commit on the 19th and lists Davis as one of his finalists. Additionally, his offer from Davis has been his pinned tweet despite receiving numerous offers after us. This kid set the state record in Nevada for rushing yards. Watch his tape, he's a beast.
New offer out on DE/OL Zach Kennedy out of Eastlake High School in Sammamish, WA. Holds Big Sky offers from UC Davis and Northern Colorado. Has a PWO offer from Washington State.
one of my (and Hawk) teammates, Scott McKnight, coaches at JSerra. His son was a record setting receiver for Hawk at Colorado. That connection seems to be paying dividends ( Jake Parks, and someone we signed this year)
From 247: "At 6'6" and weighing close to 250 pounds, Kennedy is exactly what college football coaches are looking for in an edge player with his long arms, quick feet and athleticism as well as his knack for being able to get pressure on the quarterback."
