Following an amazing double-digit comeback, 3OT win over the 1st place Tritons on Thursday, Davis takes on 9th place Long Beach tomorrow afternoon in SoCal. I already had this pegged as a trap game, but that looms even larger now after the physically and emotionally taxing win over UCSD. As they try to stay in thick of the the race for the regular season championship, the 3rd place Aggies will need to dig deep. With 2nd place UC Irvine playing across town at 4th place CSU Fullerton, and an equally drained UCSD facing an improving and dangerous UC Riverside squad on the road, defeating the Beach is crucal to UCD’s title aspirations and Big West tournament seeding.

The Beach is led by JaQuoia Jones-Brown (16.6), the #4 scorer in the Big West. Jones-Brown also leads LBSU on the boards, at 7.2, with help from Khylee Pepe at 4.8 and Rosie Akhot at 4.7 rpg. As a team, Long Beach is last (11th) in the conference both offensively (54 ppg) and defensively (73 ppg). However, after recent struggles agains both Cal Poly (10th in both categories) and Bakersfield (9th in both), Davis can’t have a let down.

The Aggies’ “Big Four” continue to average double digits: Ryann Bennett (15.2) ppg, Nya Epps (12.8), Megan Norris (12.4), and Avery Sussex (11.7). Norris also paces the Aggies in rebounding at 13.3 rpg, leading Big West, while Tegan Young and Nya Epps each add 4+ boards a game. The Aggies put up 70 points a game, and hold opponents to 60.
