MOSCOW, Idaho - Tim Plough has been UC Davis head football coach for 24 games as he goes deep into his second season as Aggie boss.

In that time he’s had a number of highs and several lows, but after the Aggies dismantled the Idaho Vandals, 28-14, Saturday in the iconic Kibbie Dome, Plough couldn’t contain his enthusiasm for the game he had just witnessed.

“Of those 24 games, this is by far the best win we’ve had,” Plough enthused.

“Last week (a 38-36 loss to Idaho State) was the worst loss I’ve experienced and to see how our players and coaches bounced back after that was a great Aggie Pride moment.”

“I think with this win we showed we should be in playoff contention,” Plough added, as he looks ahead to the battle in Bozeman and the regular season finale November 22 at home against Sacramento State.

“It wasn’t perfect, but getting that early lead was great for our confidence,” added Plough.

“Our defense had a great plan and they bent, but didn’t break.”

Judging by people's opinions on this game, I find that hard to believe.

Idaho head coach, Thomas Ford, reminds me a lot of Tim Plough when I listen to him. He emphasizes the positives while acknowledging what needs to improve and he is articulate and humble as well. It looks like he is building a great culture at Idaho and I think they are going to be a force in the Big Sky under his leadership.

    Totally agree.

Also, I'd like to retract my comment on this being a "disappointing" win. I thought we should have scored more points, but no win is disappointing especially after some teams would have gone in the tank after a loss like last week.

Great thoughts on Gbatu from Plough.

It was a must win road game against a team whose only FCS loss when starting QB Wood was to undefeated Montana. The game frustrated Davis fans because it potentially could have been a blowout, but it was still a solid win.

I totally understand what Plough is getting at in terms of what this came represented for overall program trajectory, but I’m also amused at the implied shade to Griz fans that delivering them a near historic loss at Wa Griz wasn’t as meaningful or surprising as sloppily beating a potentially sub 500 Idaho team
