my Hunter story from Montana. If you recall, we marched from the field to get within the 20. False start, delay of game, false start and the crowd’s in a lather. Ridley goes out and kicks a fairly long FG to momentarily silent the crowd (a miss would have been a huge swing)
I walk up to him on the sideline to tell him nice kick under pressure. He thanks me and walks away. Then turns back and sticks out his hand to say ‘I’m sorry I’m not sure I remember your name?’. And then thanks me for coming. I felt pretty good if we need a pressure kick later.
Some comments on some of the guys you mentioned.
Cole Batson certainly has the resume to project as an impact transfer, but is he fully recovered from the injury that he sustained in 2023? He had two tackles last year. Some unnamed upper body injury.
D3 transfers to FCS may be rare, but Lamont Shamburger did it and played here in his first game, as a sophomore.
Dwight talked about Riddick as a guy who might play a big role, and I agree since he is a proven FCS level safety and punt returner. Here is an interesting profile of him. https://www.southeastarrow.com/sports/khalani-riddick-the-redhawks-dual-threat-making-waves-in-the-ovc-32fd0297
This is probably not a suitable podcast question......
...But I've always been curious.....Do Aggies who are fortunate enough to play professionally at the NFL level (and presumably make a nicer than average living, aka Fells, Doss, O'Brien, JT...) donate to the program?
Maybe more generally, what is football alumni financial support like these days? How much do these guys want to see Davis on a larger stage?
Unless they choose to donate anonymously, or are donating through the Collective . I’ll point out there are several names I know of that are missing at the higher level (non NFL ) so the list isn’t completely inconclusive
Yeah, I was going to say, there are some guys from the my father's era that donated in other ways, ie, the racks and weight stacks in the Edwards Family Athletic Center. May not show up as ca$h, but having good, forever equipment was a huge donation for sure.
Danny Fells (an hour plus of gold), Bob Dunning (off-season catchup), and subscriber only top 10 games of 21st century all in production. Subscribers should start seeing them soon. Hunter Ridley episode released to public this week.
