by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 9th round. Justin Reid (4th round in 1999) was also drafted by the Pirates. Reid had a much better Aggie pitching career but Carrion probably has a better chance of making the major leagues in my opinon.
Carrion is listed as a junior but he just finished his 4th year at UCD so I doubt he passes up this opportunity. I wonder if he is related to John Carrion, who played for UCD from 2000-2001.
Still 10 rounds to go in the draft. I think there is an outside chance either infielder Alex Gouveia or catcher Jack Gallagher may be drafted. Gallagher didn't have a great batting average but he hits for power and the power + low average+ defense catcher model can get drsfted, as with Scott Kalush.
