Mark Speckman is moving on to be OC at Clarion College. He has a daughter and new grandchild back there in New York, which sounds like the reason. Hard to blame him when it’s a family decision. Really good guy.
Clarion, which is apparently now officially known as Pennsylvania Western University Clarion, is a member of the D-II Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. (The Golden Eagles have a decent D-I wrestling program which competes in the MAC.) Other members of the PSAC include California, Indiana and of course Slippery Rock. The one football game I recall the Ags playing against a PSAC team was the Bloomsburg playoff collapse in December of 2020. I forget a lot of things these days and would like to forget that game.
ding! Ding! Ding! Winner! We beat Clarion 35-28 in OT in 97! Looking at the history guide, G.P. Muhammad ran for 202 yards and scored 5 TD’s (record). Those were our weird independent days
The official roster got updated a couple days ago and Kevin Burke is listed as the running backs coach. If you click on his full bio he's listed as offensive quality control, so it looks like we just did an internal promotion on short notice.
The guy was a player no doubt. Love the music too. I see a little TT and LL there as well. UG is just plain steady and great. I think we are going to be pretty good this year. QB still the big deal.
Speckman's new team hadn't won a game in two years. He put in his system late, and they're already won a big game, dropping 44 points on an opponent. Congratulations coach!
