It was definitely a "finally played a good team" reaction. Weber's fine, but they're not what they normally are.
Plus some people are going to look at the box score because it was a big game and see that the result probably should have been worse. An 18-point loss where we get outgained by 100 yards and EWU gets a late TD to make it look worse and maybe we only drop 3-5 spots instead of 4-7 spots.
It's deceiving because of the Tulsa win, that team seems a far cry from what we saw last Saturday. We're such a confused product on offense, not sure what to expect. A breakout game and win for Hastings vs. Sac would go a long way to a home playoff game...but that's asking a lot. The OL play must be better, Larison or Gilliam needs to have a monster game.
Some were predicting a possible loss to NAU - that didn't happen. Most predicted an EWU win, we didn't play an error free game, we missed some big plays, we couldn't run the ball and EB was EB.
We've had several INT's that were dropped in the last couple of games also. After our first two games, we led the nation in INT's but we've had some unfortunate drops here lately. I hope we've got a lot of the missed opportunities out of our system.
The best defenses capitalize on their opportunities, they don't drop the ball so to speak...you take, and take and take what the offense gives you, and if they're giving early Christmas presents, take them!
