• FCS Polls After Week 11
No, this is last week’s poll. The scores are up-to-date but the positions on the poll are from before Week 11’s games. I don’t think the coaches poll comes out until Monday morning each week.
  • Week 8: Big Sky Schedule and Scores
If Idaho beats sac they have an inside track to the conference title
  • Week 8: Big Sky Schedule and Scores
we’re not winning the title (let alone the auto bid, which arguably matters more) with two losses. Just look at Montana state’s remaining schedule.

Position in the bracket matters too, so it’d be nice if sac state isn’t *only* halfway decent by the time we play them. Then there’s the fact that 6 win teams sometimes have a shot too (like UNI recently) as long as all their losses were against quality opponents and not just half decent ones.
  • Week 8: Big Sky Schedule and Scores
the only way we get into playoffs as a 7-4 team is by beating a quality Sac State … hate to say it but gotta hope for as good of a Sac record as possible before Causeway especially against the teams that we don’t play
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
Wtf is with these seemingly unnecessary time outs??
  • Week 2: UC Davis (0-1) @ South Dakota State (0-1)
Didn’t SDSU have a FG hit the upright and land inside for 3 earlier in the game?
  • 2021 FCS Playoff Bracketology
Weren't there 3 Big Sky teams in one bracket in 2018? I think Weber was #2, EWU was #3, and UCD was #6.
  • Decorated UCD Gymnast Calls Out Racism in Aggie Gymnastics
Selfish because Brown is the only member of the team who would benefit from a show of support against racism? White folks are harmed by racism against black people too, even if they don’t realize it.

What is so controversial about anti-racism that it would be considered “politics” at the gymnastics meet?
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ North Dakota State
2006 NDSU @ UCD footage of the last quarter comeback by the bison that I found lurking on the Bison boards: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sMON9TWhYsI

I still remember this game like it was yesterday. We led 24-0 at the half and NDSU scores 28 points in the second half to take the lead with 6 seconds remaining in the game. They had like 4 3rd/4th down conversions of over ten yards each on that last drive. Complete heartbreaker. Was a freshman at the time still being introduced to Aggie football, feel very fortunate I got to see one year of Toomey, Jon Grant, Tony Kays...

The video is a blast from the past! I had no idea it was televised.
  • Aggies vs Bears
love this! Saw him after the game and told him Aggie Nation is proud of him.
  • Prediction time!
I doubt anyone thinks this year will be a step back, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to count Cal and NDSU as losses and also predict we drop 1 or 2 other games. Last year was certainly a step forward but it remains to be seen whether it was such a large step forward that Cal/NDSU are wins or that we run the table other than those 2 games.
  • Prediction time!
AB 1887's purpose is to prevent using CA taxpayer dollars from supporting states that have sanctioned legal discrimination against LGBT people. So I guess it's not so much about what South Dakota has done to CA than about what South Dakota is doing against LGBT people. Matchups against USD and SDSU would be great for football but CA's law is essentially saying that some things are more important than football.
  • Prediction time!
@ Cal L (0-1) Ags almost pull off the upset against a Cal team looking past UCD at #13 UW

@ San Diego W (1-1) San Diego hasn't defeated UC Davis in over a decade.

Lehigh W (2-1) Honestly don't know that much about this team other than they went 3-8 last year.

@ NDSU L (2-2) NDSU is by far the toughest team on our schedule and the travel to Fargo + Fargodome noise makes this game much less winnable. Hoping that we just keep it close, but can also easily see us getting run out of town similar to EWU last year.

Montana W (3-2) Ags gut out a win against a Montana team seeking revenge, energized by the first electric gameday environment of the UCD Health Stadium era -- students are back in Davis, they remember the playoff game, and they want to build on that atmosphere in 2019.

@ N. Dakota W (4-2) This is a trap game. Difficult travel back to North Dakota against a team that just completely revamped its offense probably for the better. Ags nonetheless find a way to win and escape Grand Forks with momentum heading into the Battle for the Golden Horseshoe.

Cal Poly W (5-2) Ags defeated Cal Poly 52-10 last year, and that was in SLO.

@ SUU W (6-2) Going to Cedar City is always difficult but Ags have too many weapons for SUU to make this competitive.

Weber State W (7-2) I'm predicting that the 2019 WSU team will be a disappointment compared to the 2018 playoffs version, and by the time we get to this point in the season the Cats will be visiting Davis as underdogs.

    -bye-

@ Portland State W (8-2) PSU is going through their own Gould era, with Bruce Barnum who has really not given the program much success other than his first year. They'll probably be improved in 2019 but will still finish in the middle or bottom of the Big Sky.

Montana State L (8-3) Of all the winnable (as in, not Cal or NDSU) games we might lose, I think MSU is the most likely one. Like Montana, they're traditionally a strong program that can compete on any given Saturday. This will be a close game likely with huge playoff implications, and I can see it going either way.

@ Sac State W (9-3) New HC, same annual tradition of losing to UC Davis.

if we go 9-3 with losses to Cal, NDSU, and MSU, we'll be a lock for an at-large bid and likely share the conference crown once again. That would be a great (regular) season.
  • WBB Big West Conference Tournament March 12-16
just 1 in 2011 with Sandy Simpson. And that also followed a string of BWCT disappointments where we came into the tournament as #1 seed only to lose. Paige Mintun was our star then, and she too had to wait until her senior year to dance.

We played at Stanford in a 16 vs 1 pairing. Wasn’t really fair.
  • Big West Tournament Seeding Prospects
if I remember correctly: head to head, then you look at record against the top team (Irvine). If both teams had the same record against the top team, go to the second team, etc. ties at the top are resolved first before using teams to determine tiebreakers.
  • Looking Forward to 2019
He was a RS freshman I think, but yes our QB situation is much better this time around
  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington v2.0
thanks SloStang! ICYMI, there's a thread on the mustang boards for our game against UNI yesterday. Love the mutual respect (and dare I say comradarie?) that exists between these two California FCS rivals.
  • FCS Playoffs Round 2: UNI @ UC Davis
They really need to fix the ticket website. Casual fans would give up and just not call the ticket office. If that's the reason we don't sell out, it will be really upsetting.
  • FCS Bracketology
Fortunately, the last time UNI made it to playoffs was 2015. That means only the seniors have any postseason experience (when they were freshmen). Farley (HC) has been coaching at UNI for 18 years so I'm sure he'll know how to prepare them, though.

Honestly, I'd be happy with a home playoff win even if we don't make it much farther than that. This season has already eclipsed all of our expectations, and the future is very bright.
  • Bring back the Cow Bells for the Playoffs?
I'm not familiar with this tradition. What is it?
