• WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Wish I could; I loved the vistas the one time I was able to go through Cedar City.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
As I said on the FCS facebook group, I'm wondering if we'll start hearing stadium expansion talk in the next couple of years. While it's great to have a full house, I do think that UCDHS and the facilities aren't exactly built to host 11k people. I don't think we're anywhere close to needing to double the size or anything, but another 2k seats with more restrooms and concessions would be helpful
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
There were a lot of games last year too where it felt like we just went flat for a quarter. (Or like the Montana game, where it was the whole first half). I'm glad the guys were able to shake it off and have a pretty good fourth quarter, though it helps when your defense produces a Sportscenter-worthy play out of nowhere.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
I think 8 is how we ensure it, 7 is the minimum. Maybe 6 is the hypothetical minimum with extreme chaos in the top 15-25, but 7 would be the baseline on our own merits.

We might have a jaw-dropping list of playoff teams on our schedule when it's all said and done (NDSU, Sac State, Montana State, Montana, Weber, San Diego). If we win 2/3 of Sac, MSU, and Weber then we still have a case to be one of the last four teams in just by SoS.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
They said it was. It certainly felt as packed as it's ever been in my memory.

We also cleaned up the offensive penalties tremendously. Helps to be at home for that, but still. Playcalling also seemed at least ok except for that awful 4th down.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
I actually feel a little bad about that one. That's a gut-wrenching momentum killer
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
    yes

Though defense is actually playing one of its better games. MASSIVE pick six
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
10-pt game. We need a score bad
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
I honestly think the ceiling is about the same as last year but we're just much less consistent. This game we're seeing the result where we start well and clean up all the procedural penalties
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
"Its not a phase Mom! It's the UC Davis Marching Band!"

Very Band-Uh-esque intro and show, don't know if the stream had it. I'm glad they're still going to do irreverent/pop-culture heavy performances
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Well the only question is whether it's the gray unis or Pint that's been the missing element
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Ags playing decent. Penalties are not doing Poly any favor though.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
some maybe but there's a solid student contingent. They're still lined up outside actually
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
3 points on the board early but you have to think we would have been set up nice to get a TD without the penalty
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
It's 3/4 capacity I think. A lot of people on the grass and on the west side
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Stinks. Hopefully if we end up on the cusp we'll get there nod over other schools with the same win count. Most teams in the country would have at least three losses with our schedule right now.

Gray unis today. Really think they should have stayed with the blue and gold on homecoming. Experimentation is much better for a home opener or other "need to get eyeballs" game
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Yeah, I do think the voters are giving us leeway because of our schedule, perhaps too much. But I don't think it's out of the question that we are actually the 20-30th most talented team in the country and have just been performing as other teams in that area would if they had our slew of playoff-bound opponents
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
agreed, should be noted that last year's schedule had some decent teams but aside from EWU and Stanford (accounting for 100% of the losses) didn't have nearly there quantity of good FCS teams on it. (We've probably had three FCS playoff bound opponents already, maybe 4 this year).
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
I disagree: consistent, similar penalties across multiple players across multiple games seems like it should be on the staff. If your players collectively aren't learning something then it's a teaching problem.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
The improved second half effort was only when compared to the first half IMO. Defense went from nonexistent to okay and offense went from pretty bad to inconsistent. Special teams got a little worse.

I hate to be a downer but there has been exactly one season I could actually be happy about in my entire history as an Aggie fan (UCD is 1 for 7 for winning seasons in that timespan and getting perilously close to 1 for 8). I can see the writing on the wall that this season isn't going to add to the "happy column".
