  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis

Thanks for bringing us back to earth 69, I definitely am grateful there's been multiple generations of talented Aggie QBs such that we can even have this argument
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
Fair. I have no idea what the criteria for "greatest" should be, that's my main point.

JM was probably a missed tackle away from an FCS championship game visit. Defense sacks EB3 in the final drive of the quarters, then Aggies probably walk away from that one and Maine has to make the likely longest road trip in FCS playoff history to face the Ags in Semis.

I'm not arguing specifically for Maier to be "the Greatest" -- because again I think the term is so squishy, but "the conversation" should include several names and his is one of them. We're probably in agreement on who the others would be.

Faulk looked like he was about to lead the Ags to a score too

He left the box apparently? Harsh punishment but it's also a rule that isn't usually an issue
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
Oof, one of the coaches got disqualified, booth couldn't figure out who it was.
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
I don't know if we just saw the Poly defense give up or just saw the future of UCD football there

I mean someone can't be D2 but it is a necessary qualifier to describe what was on the line and the opponents they faced. "Greats from the D2 era" would have been better wording.

I'm not sure how to factor in pro careers to be honest. "Great" could refer to just performance at Davis or it could more broadly describe how much attention the player brought to the program. Really shows how nebulous the term is

He did say that. I think there's a case for it because he played on the Aggies' biggest stage against the overall best competition and set D1 records while doing it. But it's really an apples to oranges comparison to stack him up against the D2 greats

That's true, but I guess I'd still expect them to run the ball and hold up on the line a little better. (And then not get torched on D). I think Baldwin will rebound, but this looks like a 2-3 year project
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
I think that's the 3rd Aggie QB who scored today?
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
    Tompkins TD!!

Hope he throws it at some point, would love to make every single team for the rest of the season have to prepare for multiple possibilities out of that package
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
If I'm watching this as a Cal Poly fan/journalist -- what optimistic thing does one take away from this? Seems like Baldwin has a HUGE hill to climb
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
    Threw right to the DB
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
    Urgh pick
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
HR is now 16/16 I think?
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
    UC Defense Aggies
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
    This... this defense....
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
Now Rodrigues is starting to flex a little
  • Week 3: Cal Poly @ #21 UC Davis
This defense..... might actually be quite good

They looked ok against ranked teams but this is defensive domination unlike maybe I've ever seen as an Aggie fan
