• Week 7: Big Sky
EWU down 14-0. We could be playing for clear #1 today
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
I would have thought this was a sure-fire blue and gold occasion. Pull a mighty ducks and change at halftime?
  • 2018-19 MBB Big West Conference Predictions
When I was a student I lamented that I might not even see a single winning season for football, MBB, or WBB before I graduated. Now it looks like three all will pull it off this year. Times have changed!
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
If anyone feels like getting cooked today my West side ticket is up for grabs. Accidentally booked something over the game ages ago
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
This is the first time I ever recall seeing the CA (block or lemon) on an Aggie Pack shirt since I started in 2012. Loving the design.
  • FCS Bracketology
I understand there's some sort of bid process to get a 1st-round home game if you're unseeded. If that's the case I'm hoping we draw another upstart team rather than a well-funded program like Montana in the first round...

But still, gotta win 3-4 more games first. I have to imagine SoS will count in our favor if it comes down to the wire
  • Poll: Best Aggie team ever? Marsh says 2018.
I feel like it might help with clarity to sort out the difference between "greatest" and "best". I can't imagine a quantitative model ranking any other historical team against this one. But in terms of accomplishments, the teams that actually won FCS conference titles or went to D2 playoffs rank above this one in my book.

Fail to recover onside kicks against SJSU and UNC and this potentially is a 2-3 team (more likely a 3-2 team with a close win but still) . It still would have the most talented roster of the D1 era but we wouldn't be talking about it being the best of all time.
  • Denver Broncos Sign Colby Wadman
Wadman had 8 punts for an average of 41 yards per punt.

Both punters from my years at Davis have now started in the NFL.

    Go Ags!
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
probably elevation and prevent defense (were we running it?) too.

Announcers mentioned that UNC was winning the time of possession battle midway through. If any defenders from the fourth had been playing the whole game they might have been gassed
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
Fair, but I'm also basing this around how well the offense moved the ball and defense got stops against Stanford.

FWIW SJSU is in the league of Sac State, Montana State, and Idaho State per Sagarin.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
I like our chances against anybody not in the FBS top 25 frankly
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
Hopefully the depth issue will go away once we have a few winning seasons under our belt and recruiting keeps improving, but man it's not going to be pretty if some of the defensive starters get injured this season
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
We have the kick. Ok starters back out, get a quick score with the 1s here
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
The heck? Did the center hear a clap from the crowd or something?
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
Man this offense is so much fun to watch
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
Probably not? Without running some sort of screen capture software on your computer that is.

I wish there was a better way, because I'll be missing the first half :/
  • Well This Is Embarrassing....
Let's see.... putting the English minor from UC Davis to work:

  • Bob Dunning: It's Time for the Aggies to Move Up to FBS
I'm leaving more and more towards getting fully behind shooting for the top of FCS and staying there for a while. We wouldn't get into a power conference so ending up in mountain West or independent or a resurrected WAC would still contribute to a "small time" image. (Heck, I had a UCLA friend ask me if San Diego State, a top 25 team, was D2.)

Let's have football join the ranks of MBB, WBB, and MSOC at getting respected as a top team at our level while not compromising on recruiting principles. Churn out 4 years of winning seasons in all the spectator sports and then reevaluate where we are in terms of stakeholder engagement and national interest.
  • UC Davis trying to reawaken its football program
I imagine that from the perspective of someone writing from Fargo, not going to the playoffs and not recently (ever?) beating any perennial FCS powers effectively means your program is invisible.

I'm in a really active FCS fans group on Facebook and there are basically tiers of chatter, with NDSU and James Madison getting by far the most notice, then a tier of EWU/Montana/SDSU/SHSU/NCAT/quite a few other easterly schools I'm forgetting, and then everyone else. Davis is only getting some attention on there this year because of the FBS win and concern from other Big Sky fans.
