• Would Tougher Non-Conference Schedules Be Better for MBB & WBB?
Frankly, if we want to be a good team, we need to be able to beat good teams. A phenomenal record against creampuffs doesn’t give you anything outside of hype. A balanced schedule w a minimum of 5 major conference level teams each yr would be ideal. It would give us a chance at an at large as well. I’d much rather go 0-5 or 1-4 vs top tier competition than blow out cupcake teams. The women’s team today would have a good chance against most major teams outside of the elite.
  • WBB 12:30 pm Friday: Aggies (10-2) @ Fordham (8-4)
Ags let this one slip away. True road game against a good team, but it was tied w about 5 mins left. Now off to conference play.
  • WBB 12:30 pm Thursday: Aggies (9-2) vs Yale (7-4)
Nice win. Ags had opportunities to blow this one open, but credit Yale for their late surge. Good win against a quality opponent. Back on track!
  • WBB 6 pm Wednesday: Aggies (9-1) @ #17 Oregon State (8-2)
It was definitely a lost opportunity and no doubt we had the chance to win. But here’s the bright side. We held OSU to their lowest fg% all yr including their games against Duke and Notre Dame. And matched Duke in turnovers generated. It’s too bad we won’t face competition of this caliber again until (hopefully) the postseason. This is a dangerous dangerous team- and we can get better
  • WBB 6 pm Wednesday: Aggies (9-1) @ #17 Oregon State (8-2)
Well there are some positives here. Last yr, we lost to OSU by 41 pts. Shows you how far we've come. 3 of the 4 quarters were within 3 pts. We lost this game in the 3rd quarter alone. This despite everything going wrong: shots weren't falling all game (our 4 most volume shooters went 13 of 56. Yikes!) and got outrebounded pretty badly (we absolutely need to fix this to compete w elite competition). I agree this team absolutely had a chance to win. They're scrappy and extremely disruptive. Generated 18 turnovers and a lot of pressure on OSU. If we can fix some of these issues over the course of the yr, who knows how good this team can be. Rough outing, but very promising if that makes any sense.
  • Aggie WBB up to #8 in this weeks Mid-Major Poll
ya should be interesting. SMU was a big surprise in terms of margin of victory. That was a team that challenged ranked Cal on the road and beat the Hoosiers. Next three games should give us a clearer picture just how good we are. Not sure we’ll face anyone of that caliber in league play.
  • WBB 1 pm Saturday: Aggies (8-0) @ St Mary's (5-2)
Wow. Unfortunately had to miss this game. Major props to the ladies on this very impressive showing
  • WBB 5 pm Wed: San Francisco (3-4) @ the Aggies (7-0) 1st game of a DH
St. Mary's should be a good litmus test. Should be a tough game, particularly on the road. Last year, we won by 2 pts at home. Looking forward to this one.
  • MBB 7:30 pm Wed: Pacific (4-3) @ the Aggies (5-2) 2nd game of a DH
Happy with the win, but outrebounded 42-22 in this game. We're going to need to address this. Siler and Chima looked great as always. Go Ags!
  • MBB 7:30 pm Wed: Pacific (4-3) @ the Aggies (5-2) 2nd game of a DH
Is the stream not working again? edit: Appears to be working again after being stuck for the first 3 and a half minutes of the second half. Someone needs to fix this. Seriously.
  • MBB 7:30 pm Wed: Pacific (4-3) @ the Aggies (5-2) 2nd game of a DH
Yep, being undersized, one of our key focuses has got to be boards. Overall looking good.
  • Men’s RPI is 22 in the nation
So the BW seems to be doing fairly well this year in terms of rpi.
    10th out of 32 conferences

Also while Washington and WSU will naturally help us with their opponents being pretty strong (down yr for the Pac12 though), it can also hurt us if they lose- which is quite possible against a tougher schedule. So I'm their biggest fan now :) Unfortunately Nevada lost to Texas Tech in overtime today.
  • Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches Show Announced
Ya, feed was a bit inconsistent, but I'll give credit for athletics organizing this kind of event. Really both teams are a class act, and events like this can help build a fan base. Hopefully we can improve quality of streaming and have these regularly, but kudos for organizing this!
  • Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches Show Announced
Thanks, great news! Looking forward to this.
  • Men’s RPI is 22 in the nation
If we keep losses to maybe 5 or 6, WSU keeps doing well, and if we beat a tough Nevada (who may be ranked by the time we play em), I could see a 13 or 14 assuming we can get through BW.

UCSB has had a strong start this yr w their new coach, Beach just knocked off Stanford and has lots of exposure to high major bball, UCI is always tough, Hawaii, etc. Let’s see what we can do. I definitely think we have a shot. Our defense might be even better than last yr, and that was a darn good gritty D. Big questions are how we’ll perform vs size and if we can improve consistency on offense. TJ Shorts can hopefully help Chima and Siler with that
  • ATTN: UCD Sports Marketing. IMPROVE STREAMING
See GCU streaming. Wow. That is DI. A team that is only eligible for the tournament this yr. This is what our broadcasts could be:

  • MBB 12 noon Saturday: Aggies (4-2) @ Washington State (6-0)
Absolutely. TJ Shorts has been a major success so far. He's quick, can drive, play defense, distribute, etc. This is a very pleasant surprise this yr. With him and Schneider in the backcourt, it's going to take attention away from Chima inside.

Goode has improved pretty significantly imo (though not a big fan of his hair style haha) and AJ John can shoot which can help spread the floor - and open things up inside. Then you add in Onyebalu & Henning's veteran presence, Mooney's shooting, and hopefully we'll get some contributions from a couple other guys. My main concern is lack of size which seemed to show against Washington. Fundamentally, we're a solid team.
  • MBB 12 noon Saturday: Aggies (4-2) @ Washington State (6-0)
Coach Les said in postgame radio interview that Mooney was under the weather. Printup stepped up when his number was called and hit 3 big threes.
  • MBB 12 noon Saturday: Aggies (4-2) @ Washington State (6-0)
Cougars cut lead to 17. We knew a run was coming. Let’s see how we withstand this
  • MBB 12 noon Saturday: Aggies (4-2) @ Washington State (6-0)
Can’t ask for a much better finish than that. Extended lead to 17. Since that 16-0 finish against Northern Colorado, the Ags have been on a rampage. Let’s goooo
