I agree that the double T was bunk. There was nothing egregious by either DeBruhl or Mitchell...just some smirking gamesmanship...nothing angry or aggressive by either. The ref overreacted. The officiating crew allowed the game to be physical but it didn't seem to me to be getting out of hand by any means. Just good, tough basketball.

Leo is an emotional player and he plays with his hair of fire. You gotta love that he gives you 100% every second he's on the floor. That said, I think his emotions get the better of him at times. He's been talking to the refs a lot lately when he feels that they missed a call involving him and he can get discouraged with himself when his shots aren't dropping. Nevertheless, he's become a very good 6th man for us.

I thought the T on Rocak for taunting was questionable as well. He had just forced Pierre-Louis into a missed layup and grabbed an aggressive rebound as Pierre-Louis hit the floor. Rocak look down at him while he had the ball but it certainly didn't look like he was taunting at all. We were up 17 at the time and we had a chance to stretch the lead even further but the T stopped our momentum and the Gauchos started chipping away at the lead.

I feel like TY has really matured a lot over last season. Last year, his emotions got the best of him too often. This season, he's been letting things slide and playing on rather that getting confrontational and he's really settled into being an outstanding all around player. He often sparks the team offensively when we need an boost and his defense is tremendous.

I just realized I was posting about the game in the wrong thread. I'm gettin' old...

Great defense by the Ags when they needed it . They forced 16 TO's which included 10 steals. It was a very physical game and the Ags hung in there when the Gauchos kept making runs.

The Aggies won the battle of the boards 31-25 and that included 9 offensive boards. Pepper and Johnson both had 24, Milling 10 and Rocak had 10 to go along with several blocks which was huge since the Ags were playing without Adebayo. Tamba stepped in for Ade and did a really good job. Great team win!

53-23 Aggies at the half. The Ags outscored the Gauchos 35-7 in the second quarter. The Ags were 15 of 16 shooting shooting in the quarter and the 35 points were the most points in a quarter by the Aggies ever! The Aggies also shot 69% for the half.

I just checked the Big West games scheduled for Thursday on ESPN+ and they show that the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU and also streamed live on ESPN+ as well. So you should be able to watch it on ESPN+. I'll add this information to my original post.

Verbal Commits and 247 Sports are showing that Jac Mani's brother, Jon, has committed to Denver. It looks like we didn't offer him. He had offers from Cal, Arizona State, Riverside, Cal Poly, Portland, Rice and Montana.

He's been injured for a long time. He appeared in 3 games in the 2022-23 season before got injured and was out for the rest of the season. Then he had got injured in a bike accident prior to this season and has been out until now. Borra was also injured in a bike accident that sidelined him for a long time too. In a game earlier this season, Bob Williams jokingly said that if he was their coach he'd make them ride bikes with 3 wheels from now on.

One good thing about this game was that we got to see Jac Mani take the floor for a few minutes. The 3 pointer he made looked smooth and fluid. Having a 6'9 player that sink 3's and play inside as well would be fantastic. Scott Marsh said that Les told him that Mani is the best big man he has ever coached. I can't wait to see him play more.

I've seen all of the Big West teams play this year and I think that San Diego just may be the best overall team in the conference. Their lopsided win over the Aggies was more about them being a very good basketball team than about us not playing well and their only conference loss at Irvine was closer than the final score indicates.

My wife and I just watched the replay. Wow...what a beat down by the Tritons! They outplayed the Aggies in every phase of the game...no contest whatsoever. I thought it would be a very tough game for the Aggies but I didn't think it would be a complete blowout. It's unfortunate that we had a game like this in front of the largest crowd of the season (2537).

San Diego is impressive. They appear to be a much more balanced team than the Aggies in that they have quite a few players who are offensively talented to the Aggies who depend primarily on Pepper and Johnson for the bulk of the scoring. The Aggie defense has been outstanding most of the time since conference play began but today it didn't bother the Tritons at all. They were dropping 3's, hitting mid-range jumpers, scoring on backdoor cuts, getting offensive boards and and scoring on put backs and tip-ins. It looked like their offense was just a whole lot better than our defense.

Although the Aggies had won 3 straight conference games, all of those games were struggles and now we just suffered our worse loss in 4 years. I hope we don't have a hangover going down to Santa Barbara. The Gauchos are capable of lighting it up when they are playing well. They will definitely play better than they did here in the first game. Right now, I don't see us winning in the Thunderdome.

So sorry to hear that, agalum. I managed to dodge the bullet until Christmas 2022 when 7 of us got together at a friend's house on December 22nd and two days later 6 of us had Covid. It really kicked my butt! I could barely get off the couch and didn't test negative until 12 days later. Take care!

I hope we have another good crowd for the San Diego game Saturday. Even though SD is not eligible for the BW tournament, I'm sure the Aggies are hoping to win a BW regular season title and securing the top seed in the tournament.

Unfortunately, my wife and I are out of town so we won't be able to attend. I'll have to settle for watching the ESPN replay Saturday night.
