Sac has announced 11 signees and, according to a post on the Hornets Forum, 5 are rated 3 stars and 3 are rated 2 stars. The forum poster also said that the coaching staff had done a great job of addressing their biggest needs. It sounds like TroyTaylor is continuing to build the program into an FCS power.

  • MBB: Aggies (4-3) at Oregon State (1-8) 7 PM Tuesday 12/14
    Post-game comments from Les:

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Jim Les said he wrote one word on the board before sending his UC Davis men’s basketball team onto the floor of legendary Gill Coliseum to battle Pac-12 foe Oregon State Tuesday night.

“Opportunity,” explained the Aggie head coach. “We have a great opportunity to do something special here.”

“This group of young men have truly high character and they deserved this win,” Les added. “We had a couple of tough losses earlier this season when we played well below our standards, but these guys stayed together and never doubted and practiced hard and paid attention to details. We executed at a high level tonight.”

“You don’t get many chances to win in a Pac-12 arena and I was really glad we could finish it after they made a run,” Les noted. “Our conditioning is really good. We didn’t get tired down the stretch. We were able to handle everything they threw at us and make some clutch shots at the end.”

“We have a number of guys who have been in a lot of close game situations and they have a lot of trust in each other. It was awesome the way they executed at the end,” Les explained.

“Ezra put us on his back tonight and took over the game,” Les added. “There’s a lot of history in this building and this is a game our guys are going to remember for a long time. It’s great when you play your heart out and get a W. When you have that kind of mentality, good things will happen to you.”

From OSU head coach Wayne Tinkle:

Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle, whose team was the Cinderella of last year’s NCAA tournament, said simply “No excuses. We lost to a very good basketball team. It’s disappointing obviously, but they just imposed their will on us right out of the gate in the second half.”

I'm fine with whatever the coaches feel is best for recruiting and building a team that competes with the best in the FCS. I wish they'd just keep the fan base informed about NLI signing day....the silence just keeps us wondering about what's happening...

What bugs me about this is that the Aggie fan base has been kept in the dark. The early signing day for football is a big deal for Aggie fans each year and it generates a lot of anticipation and excitement for all of us who follow the Ags closely. It's a big mistake, IMO, for the coaches and the Athletics Department to not be saying anything about what's happening and leaving Aggie fans uniformed and speculating.

I don't know what happened against Sac State and Academy of Art, but this edition of UCD Men's basketball is good.

The loss to the Academy of Art is a real head scratcher...
  • New HC is Tommy Nicholson
Boy, does he ever have an uphill challenge to try and create a winning culture in Aggie baseball. I wish him well and hope good things are to come!

OSU's record wouldn't be quite so bad if they had won a few of their close games. Four of their loses were by a total of 11 points.

Ezra is so much fun to watch isn't he. He has lightening quickness. His first two step off a ball fake are so quick that it's practically impossible for a defender to stay in front of him and he can finish as well. I thought this might have been Fuller's best game this year and it was really good to Ade and Borra contributing on the offensive end too.

I liked how we played within ourselves and stayed focused when the Beavers made their runs. That layup by Fuller on the inbound play with about 40 seconds to go and only 2 seconds on the shot clock was a thing of beauty as were a couple of other back door plays after timeouts.

Now if we can beat Pacific in their house and then beat Portland at home, we'll have some nice momentum going into conference play.

Really like seeing Adebayo taking the ball to the hoop and scoring. He so strong and has great body control.

Pepper has had some open looks...just been off the mark from outside or short armed in the paint..

All the stats are very even for both teams. I like our defense. Surprisingly, 20 of our points are in the paint against their superior size. Neither team is knocking down 3's. I hope Pepper finds his stroke. He's 0-5 and none of the shots have been close. This is the first time that OSU has led at the half this season...wow...

I'm in. Let's go AST members and get this funded and thanks to Aggie Finn for keeping the ball rolling!

I think we're going to miss this big man:

  • WBB: Stanislaus State (9-1) at UCD (4-3) 4 pm Monday 12/13
Stanislaus State only suited up 7 players due to injuries. They had 3 of their highest scorers out but they were still scrappy.

A lot of Aggies got to play everyone and Cierra Hall went over the 1000 point mark for her career. However, the Ags looked rusty and not very energetic which might be expected after a week of finals and not really being fired up about playing the Warriors. The Ags will have to play their best ball of the season on Wednesday and have a bunch of good luck to have a chance at Stanford on Wednesday.

I think you're right. We had a great crowd and the students showed up in force since the game was being televised on ESPN.
  • WBB: Stanislaus State (9-1) at UCD (4-3) 4 pm Monday 12/13
It really is some strange scheduling start times for both the women and the men.
  • WBB: Aggies (3-2) at #18/16 Oregon (3-2) Wed 12/1 at 3:30 PM PT
I think the conference is going to be very challenging for the Aggies this year and you know everyone will be gunning for the Ags too.
  • Jordan Perryman to transfer
I hadn't seen his tweet. As much as I hate to see him go, I wish him well and hope he is successful.

  • Jordan Perryman to transfer
I don't think we know what their personal reasons might be for entering the portal. It may well be that they want to try and see if they can land at an FBS program but it could also be something like not being completely happy with something here also. There could be other personal reasons as well. Losing Gilliam and Perryman is tough though. I wonder who might be next...?
  • IM Program at UC Davis
    Creative, funny names!

I remember that inner tube, water polo was a popular IM sport that was played at the Hickey pool.
