How big is the crowd? Go Ags!
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
My wife and I are on day 6 of a 40 day road trip up through the Pacific Northwest so we're missing a couple of games. We'll be watching tonight on ESPN+ and cheering the Ags on from the Columbia River Gorge.

Anybody tour the new athletics facility today. If so, how was it?

Bob Dunning picks the Ags by 3:

AGGIES over WEBER STATE … A critical Big Sky opener for both schools. Weber State coach Jay Hill applied for the Utah State job and didn’t get it. Apparently, if you can’t join ’em, beat ’em, so his Wildcats went out two weeks ago and routed Utah State (also the Aggies), 35-7. This is a very good Weber State team trying to go 2-0 against teams nicknamed “Aggies.” Won’t happen. Take the Ags by 3.

Damn...she sounds like she was as obnoxious and inconsiderate as they come.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
I really like that the Athletic Department is making these pressers each week but how hard is it to get a microphone to the people asking the questions so we could actually hear what their questions are? Personally, I'd be embarrassed to post a video interview where you couldn't hear the questions being asked. It's not like it's hard to get a working mic to the people asking the questions.

    Northern Colorado - 10,963

I don't remember the exact number but we averaged over 10,000 per game last year.

I think we have to play better on defense than we did against USD. We gave up a lot of big chunks of yardage too often and our pass rush wasn’t creating much pressure on their QB. Our LB’s and DB’s continue to make most of our tackles too. Our D line has not been making the initial contact with our opponents’ RB’s very often this year. I’d like to see that improve.

It's always very frustrating when you end up seated near some disruptive fans. Our section was packed last year for the Sac State game and a bunch of Hornet fans were mixed into our section. The guy right next to me was VERY loud and obnoxious and he really liked to "rub it in" when Sac was having their way with us. It was so irratating that it practically ruined the game for us.

    Yikes…Chuba weighs 350 pounds…ouch!
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
I hope you're right! This is a huge game for us.

We used that 2 point spread formation quite a lot last year and it was successful most of the time. I'm not sure why we chose to do it last night when we were up by 28. We showed Weber that it's still in the playbook and now they can be more prepared for it.
  • Week 3: San Diego (1-1) @ UC Davis (0-2)
The TV broadcast showed Rex Connors pointing to his left ankle when he came out of the game. I sure hope he's good to go against Weber. I also wonder how long Jake Parks is going to be out?

Was the steam engine operating? If so, where did they have it located? I didn't really hear it on the TV broadcast.
  • Week 3: San Diego (1-1) @ UC Davis (0-2)
Scott Gordon was outstanding doing the commentary alongside Scott Marsh. His knowledge of the game and articulate comments after each play were very insightful. Really, really good!
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
I think we could easily be 2 TD underdogs going into this game. We'll need to play better on both sides of the ball to be competitive in this one. Weber looks like they're scary good.
  • Week 3: San Diego (1-1) @ UC Davis (0-2)
I was impressed with USD's offense. Their play calling and execution gave our defense problems. There was a stretch in the second half where they were consistently picking up big chunks of yardage especially running the ball. We need to shore that up or Weber will slice and dice us all game long on the ground.

Although the game was never all that close on the scoreboard, it felt more competitive than the final score. USD was a couple of plays away from at least 2 more TD's that stalled with our INT at the goal line and when they nearly scored on that flea flicker except for barely stepping out of bounds and turning the ball over on downs.

It sounds like the Athletic Department is trying to come up with imaginative ways to entice the students to come out to the games and actually stay past halftime. The stampede may bring a few thousand students out for the Weber game but I doubt it will match this turn out.

10,833 students is a massive turnout of students for us but, when you subtract that number from the total attendance of 14,394, that leaves 3561 non-students in attendance which is a pretty low number. Usually, the non-student attendance far out numbers the student attendance.
