• Cody Hawkins new Idaho St. Coach
Well, thank God that Cody isn't available to go to Sac State!
  • SI Suggests Troy Taylor for Stanford
It's official, Troy Taylor will be the new Stanford Head Coach according to the Sac Bee:

Sacramento State football coach Troy Taylor has accepted an offer to become the next head coach at Stanford. Taylor told The Sacramento Bee he is taking the job after three seasons with the Hornets. He was planning to inform his Sac State players Saturday morning before meeting with Cardinal players and personnel on the Stanford campus.
Stanford plans to hold a news conference on campus Monday morning to introduce Taylor. Sacramento State’s season ended Friday night in a wild 66-63 loss to Incarnate Word of San Antonio in the highest-scoring FCS playoff game in history.

Not much to choose from on ESPN on a Friday night for sports fans, however, on Saturday, there's lots of sports on tv so the game wouldn't likely have a very big tv audience. Like they say when something seems ridiculous, "follow the money..."

I agree but the defenses were terrible also IMO.

So did we just see 2 great offenses or 2 terrible defenses or both? I think we saw both!

I still think Sac will pull this one out. IW's defense can't really stop Skattebo or Fulcher and Taylor is perfect in finding a way to win every close game.

Whoa, what a surprise! Idaho State comes to Davis on November 11, 2023. That should certainly be interesting to say the least!
  • SI Suggests Troy Taylor for Stanford
Stanford has high academic standards for their athletes. I would assume that some of the Sac athletes would not meet those standards and that may limit who he can take with him. Also, the pool of athletes he will be able to recruit from will be smaller due to the stricter academic standards that Stanford has compared to Sac.
  • Baldwin out at Cal Poly
What a tragic story. It is also a great story about football and the coaches that Wulff had saved him from going down a dark path. I think he's going to be an excellent coach for Poly.
  • Transfer Portal

HE’S A VOLUNTEER NOW … UC Davis standout tight end McCallan Castles entered the transfer portal and was immediately scooped up by Tennessee of the Southeastern Conference.

“Entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer,” Castles tweeted. “Very excited to announce my commitment to Tennessee!”

Castles, considered a sure NFL bet, suffered internal injuries after being sandwiched by two defenders on a pass reception against Sacramento State three weeks ago and spent several days in the hospital
    .
A two-year starter, the 6-5, 233-pound Castles was the third-leading Aggie receiver in 2022 with 30 catches for 347 yards and two touchdowns, earning second-team All-Big Sky honors.

In 2021, Castles had 27 receptions for 363 yards and four scores.

Added Castles, “I think going to the next level is to play with and against the best. The SEC offers the best talent and obviously it’s good to play against high-level guys. I think the way Coach (Josh) Heupel uses his offense, he is going to maximize what I do best.”

Tennessee, which plays its home games in 102,000-seat Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, upset Alabama this season and finished 10-2. The Volunteers will meet Clemson in the Orange Bowl, Dec. 30 in Miami.
