• WBB: Aggies (1-3) @ Sac State (0-4) 6:30 pm Tuesday 11/21
31-11 Aggies with 6:38 to go in the 2nd quarter. Ags on a 20-0 run!
  • Lan Larison named Big Sky offensive player of the year
This is great! Larison deserves this 100%. He is perhaps the very best RB in all of the FCS.

It also makes being left out of the playoffs again look even more egregious. Larison had 256 yards when he was injured late in the 3rd quarter of the EWU game that we went on to lose and then we lost to in a close game to Montana without him. We won every game after he returned and he was practically unstoppable even though teams knew he was our go to guy. It's obvious that the committee did not take that into account when they decided to leave the Aggies out yet again.
  • MBB: Sac (1-4) vs the Aggies (3-1) 5 pm Sunday 11/26
Interesting game time. Perhaps the Aggies want to play the hornets in front of as few people as possibleAggieFinn2

My thoughts exactly. I think it's got to be hard for the players to play in a big, empty arena.

I'm in total agreement with your take on the game. The simple fact is that the selection committee has literally screwed us two years in a row and it sucks big time! The only way we are going to get into the playoffs is to have a season record that is so good that it can't possibly be overlooked by the committee. I feel really sorry for the seniors who have played their last game. They deserved better...they earned it and were denied twice...
  • Daniel Descalso named St. Louis Cardinals' bench coach
Good for Descalso! I hope he has great success except against the Giants!

You are absolutely right. I'm not sure how why I thought it was in Indianapolis. I went ahead and edited my original post. Thanks!

Great post, Toke. There's a lot of wisdom and truth in your post about competitive athletics at a lot of levels. Unfortunately, it's the American way where "bigger is always better and to the victor go the spoils."

We've all heard Hawkins talk about his philosophy that we all want to win and play for championships but, if winning is the only thing we're playing for and nothing else matters, then we're not playing sports for the right reasons and the valuable life lessons and skills that competitive sports can teach get lost. I totally get it and that's why I support him win or lose. His players are lucky to have as their coach too.

Yes, Greg is very good and Scotty is just so passionate about the Aggies. I think they both have their strengths.

Irvine defeated Santa Barbara 11-9 to win the Big West Championship. Irvine now heads to USC for the NCAA Championships and will face the #4 seed Princeton in the first round.

  • Looking Ahead to the 2024 Football Season Discussion
I think that Miles would tell you that it wasn't his best year but I think that, overall, he still did a pretty good job.

I remember Hawk saying that when we lose a game the fans and the press look first to the QB and the coaches to be at fault but, he went on to explain, that there are a whole lot of moving parts for a successful pass play including: the receivers running the right route and being in the right place for the timing of the pass, the receivers actually creating some separation so that there is a window open for the pass and the line giving the QB enough time to make his reads and so forth. Also, let's not forget that defensive players can make great plays to intercept a well thrown ball too. It always looks bad when it appears that the QB just threw a terrible interception and there are some for sure but the interception can also be due to other factors which is not the QB's fault.

Miles certainly has his limitations. He's not an elusive scrambler with dual threat capability but I believe Hawk when he says that Miles has such a high football IQ, makes good reads and is a solid leader on the field. He was fantastic last year and there have been rough spots this year for sure but Hawk believes in him and has him in there for reasons he believes is best for the team and I trust that.

Good point, Finn. In one of his pressers this year, Hawk said we don't use the portal much because so many of the players in the portal don't meet the transfer requirements necessary to get them into Davis.

If it's any consolation, there seems to be quite a bit of sentiment over off the AGS FCS football forum that the Aggies got screwed again this year:
