Mitchell had a tough time in the OT period. He didn't score and, during a 28 second stretch from 3:24 to 2:56 to go in OT, he missed 3 straight jumpers.

CSUN 87 Santa Barbara 84 in OT. This was CSUN's first BW Tournament win 2014.

Many people thought Santa Barbara was the team to beat in Big West in the pre-season predictions. On paper, they were as loaded but, it goes to show, that there's a whole lot more to building a winning team than the sum of the players' resumes on the roster.

Nice win for the Aggies! I've been skiing all day so I'll have to watch it on replay.

I'm hoping for the best for him. The NBA is probably a long shot but he certainly has the work ethic and I think he's got potential to become even better.

Chima did make the roster of the Sacramento Kings last year and, since I live in Sacramento, I was really excited about that but it didn't last long. They sent him to the G League in Stockton, I believe, or maybe it was Modesto? Anyway, he quit that pretty quickly and said it didn't make sense to him to stay and play in small arenas with small crowds who didn't really care about the team when he could play as a pro in Australia where the crowds packed the arenas and cared about the teams. I hope he's doing well there.

There was that 3 game period where Pepper was held to single digit scoring. If it weren't for that drought period he would have probably become the highest scorer in Big West history. He still has a chance but it's probably a long shot...

Awesome news! He most absolutely deserved it. He's one of the greatest Aggies ever to wear the uniform!

Pepper started all 31 games and averaged a league-leading 20.5 points per game during the regular season to lead UC Davis to a third-place finish in The Big West with 14-6 conference record (19-12 overall). The senior guard also topped the league in three-pointers made per game (3.0) and free throw percentage (.923), and had 19 instances of scoring 20 points or more. Pepper is currently 75 points of becoming The Big West’s all-time leading scorer (Lucious Harris, LBSU, 2,312 points, 1989-93). The Selah, Wash. product joins the likes of TJ Shorts II (2017-18) and Corey Hawkins (2014-15) as Aggies who have won the conference’s top individual award.

Back in the day, the campus was small, 8000+ students,Toke69

I just saw that UCD had 115,349 applicants for the fall of 2024 which is a record high.

Wow...I've heard some of The Beach fans over on the Big West Boards calling for his head but I didn't see that coming. He recruits some high level talent but this year's team really did underperform in conference play and finished with 5 straight loses. That was probably the nail in the coffin. Bob Williams considers him one of the best coaches in the conference.

I think we got a pretty good draw when you look at the teams we might end up playing in our first game.
  • Aggies in past years
I remember that. We must have been at the same game. He used to stop his feet so hard that I thought he might break a bone while he was nervously be chomping on a white towel. Occasionally, he would jump up in exasperation and throw it the back over his head and high into the crowd. He was certainly a colorful coach!

He also had an eye for a pretty girl too. I was at Mr B's one evening with a coed friend who was as cute as they come. Ham was sitting at another table all by himself having a drink and smoking a cigarette. As he got up to leave, he walked over to our table and introduced himself and we began chatting about the Aggies. He said we were going to build a big, first rate basketball arena and great things were in store for Aggie basketball. Finally, as he was about to walk away, he stopped and turned around and looked at me and said in that raspy voice of his, "She's a keeper. I can tell by that twinkle in her eye."

Dang, the prices have gone up!

I'll be up at Northstar through Friday skiing with my son. Hopefully, I'll arrive home in one piece in time to watch the Aggies on Friday night.

At my age, skiing has become a risky business but I still love it even though I have two relatives in Colorado who have suffered serious a broken leg that required surgery already this year. They're still young enough to heal up and return to the activities they love to do...probably not so much anymore with me. I'm hoping the family, Colorado skiing curse doesn't spread to California though!

As for the ‘game’, I was a bit underwhelmed.DrMike

Did any players stand out for you? Was there anything else in particular that looked impressive or not so impressive? How big was the crowd?
