Great post, NCagalum. Thanks for taking the time to write up such a good report.

What a shame. Do you know anything about what the injuries are?

Hell, I'm 78 Mike, and I would have left him in the dust!

This rule needs to be examined since Montana found a way to exploit it and I'm sure other teams are doing the same. The Aggies had to call their last TO because the ref was holding up play while the play clock was expiring because the Montana defensive player was moving like a snail to the sideline. I think teams should be able to make a defensive substitution after the offense substitutes but the offense should not have to call a TO because the ref is holding up play while a defensive player is deliberately, walking very slowly to the sideline.

The Aggies won the penalty kicks shootout 5-4 after regulation play ended in a 1-1 tie followed by 2 scoreless OT periods.

His helmet got completely ripped off.

I voted for the Aggies in the poll at the start of this topic. My head questions whether we've got enough horsepower to match up with them but I also know that we're going to be fired up and playing with our hair on fire. Sometimes I think there's an advantage to being a talented underdog especially when the game is being played in our house. We've seen the Aggies win games in which we were given no chance at all over the years. Montana State is really good but we just might be hungrier.

Wow...you know Plough is doing everything he can to stir up support for the Aggies. Gotta give him a lot of credit; he's been working his butt off. We really couldn't ask him for more from a promotional standpoint and from the outstanding job he has done building a staff and coaching this team. It's got to be frustrating for him that it's such an uphill battle getting the students out to support the team and for getting the Davis community to show up and actually get involved in the game instead of sitting in the stands quietly.

Maybe the excitement that this win over Montana has generated will be a watershed moment for getting more fan support. Our forum is more active than I've ever seen it in a very long time and the Aggie Podcast seems to be a big success so maybe things are looking up and the fans will finally show and fill the stadium. I certainly hope so.

Need Plough on a golfcart yelling at us to go to the game.Jdur

Maybe a gold golf cart like Prime Time has at Colorado would get even more attention...:

I watched some of this game and Irvine looks solid and poised. It's early but they're already in mid-season form.

Damn...so many injuries...and Roberson has not been able to suit up since he transferred here...losing Borra and Roberson hurts our inside depth...

How closely is he able to follow the Aggies during the CFL season? Does Jake think that the Aggies should consider the FBS at some point?

    Quotes from Bobby Hauck:

"We played well at times and when we took the lead at 14-13 we felt pretty good about it and that's when they went and got the score to go up 20-14," head coach Bobby Hauck said. "We were really good out of the gate, I thought we played extremely well in the first quarter. I do think that Davis played their best game of the year. They came in here and took the win from us, and it's disappointing not to get the win tonight. We were excited to play this game, and it didn't go our way."

"The defense was really solid throughout," Hauck said. "We had a couple of guys get loose on us in man coverage where we lost them in man, and it happened on the two touchdowns and on a couple of third downs. We just didn't hold up in man coverage well enough."

"They really controlled it up front, and we didn't handle them very well," Hauck said. "They were playing some heavy boxes, and we just didn't handle them up front very well. When we decided that we weren't having much success doing that, I thought our quarterbacks struggled to see coverage. I didn't think either of our young fellas saw coverage very well and had some confusion on what they were getting in the back end."

"That was a big game. It's going to take a few days to get over that one," Hauck said. "We put a lot into it, the guys were excited to go play them and when you come up short, if you care, it's hard on you. It's hard on these guys because they care about winning and losing. It will take us a couple of days, but it turns into a really big game for us next weekend here against Portland State."

I hope the Ags prepare for a silent count in case MSU fans show up big.BaseballAtDobbins

That's funny but, unfortunately, it's all too true. Idaho brought maybe 200 fans to our game against them earlier this season and they were actually louder than the Aggie student section sitting right next to them. I'm not sure what it will take to get the students off their phones and devices for a couple of hours and show up loud and proud at Aggie Stadium while having a lot of fun.

Of course, the west side fans are about as lifeless as well most of the time. The students and the Davis community used to regularly pack the Toom during the D2 glory years come rain or shine. Since then, the population of the university and the community has grown immensely but attendance has not kept pace. I feel like we're still recovering somewhat from the fanatical resistance to athletic scholarships that significantly slowed our transition to a higher level of competition.

I'm not sure how you compete with all the time the students spend on social media along with their academic rigors and the members of the larger Davis community itself seem to care more about soccer and swimming than a contact sport like football. I think both groups forget that the Aggie football players are required to be good students in the classroom just like their fellow students and that they aren't "paid" to be here just to play their sport like you see at many of the big time, college football programs today.

Maybe all the current excitement from this tremendous win over #7 Montana with #2 Montana State coming to town will bring out the Aggie fans in record numbers. I certainly hope so. This team deserves to have the stadium packed with a record crowd and the crowd needs to be LOUD.

26,012 was the official attendance tonight and man were they ever LOUD! The Aggies need that kind of support...well, at least, 14,000+ who are willing to be LOUD!
