Like agalum said, the "GO-GO offense was a NO-GO offense" today and the JV team beat the Varsity.

I'm feeling the same way. I hope we really fire on all cylinders tonight.

Their new format made me sign into my account yesterday and the ESPN home page looks different. It took me a couple of minutes to find the game I was looking for but it's all there.

Dr. Wood is doubling down on how he feels that Sac is a "varsity" football program and everyone else in the FCS is just JV football. I guess we'll see if he has egg on his face tomorrow or not...

  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
We certainly have a storied and proud football history and I'm excited about the growth of the program and the direction we're heading. However, I've always felt that basketball is the sport that we could get the most return for the investment...many fewer scholarships and a much less expensive sport considering equipment, travel and the number of coaches necessary etc etc.

I think we are currently seeing the Athletic Department making a significant push in basketball and gearing up for MWC play in 2026. Hopefully, we can be relatively competitive in the MWC early on against bigger name programs. I think we'll see a dramatic increase in our fan base if that happens.

Exciting times for all Aggie sports currently!

Except from the Sac Bee article about the Sac @ SDSU game:

And this is no casual kickoff as Sacramento State does not resemble last season’s squad. This is a revamped team with 73 new players and a new coaching staff except for offensive line coach mainstay Kris Richardson. The school’s recruiting class was ranked the best in the FCS by multiple rankings services, and the overall haul includes 27 incoming freshmen, 10 junior college transfers and 37 four-year transfers via the transfer portal.

The host Jackrabbits have plenty to play for and prove, too, having won FCS national championships in 2022 and 2023. South Dakota State can relate to a new coaching staff and a roster full of new players. Jimmy Rogers after last season left to coach at Washington State, replaced by former Jackrabbits player Dan Jackson.
The entire coaching staff also headed to WSU, as did 16 South Dakota State players via transfer. Twenty-one players left the program overall, which happens when there is coaching turnover. So this sizes up to be something of the “Great Unknown Bowl,” pitting programs with new faces trying to get on the same page in a hurry.

  • Mercer - In-Game Play-By-Play Thread
Throwing out the individual stats makes no sense to me at all. Losing these individual stats could possibly be the difference for some players getting post-season awards and honors and/or school records at the end of the season. The players on both teams got cheated by this asinine rule. Their individual stats should count.

I think having no winner or loser is fair to both teams in a game that was not finished. I also think it would be fair for the game to be officially posted in the schedule for both teams showing the score and time left when the game was stopped and leave it at that. Nothing goes in the win or loss column but at least there is some information available about the status of the game at the time it was halted. So the Aggie schedule, for example, would be "game suspended due to weather at 7:46 of the 4th quarter with Davis ahead 23-17."
  • Seating Renovations
Geez, Mike, what kind of prices are the Champion Club "padded seats" going for?
  • Seating Renovations
i hope the more aggressive prices don’t backfire on them by decreasing attendance.agalum

I was thinking the same thing. These prices will definitely be too much for some fans. Expensive tickets may not generate more revenue if they keep people away. I'd rather have cheaper prices and, hopefully, build a bigger fan base with the increased competition and excitement of the MWC teams coming to town. Then raise the ticket prices once the fan base has grown significantly.
