• MBB: UC Merced (6-2)@ the Aggies (4-6) 6 pm Thursday 12/21
Looks like the CCAA is a merger of the old Far Western Conference with the southern Cal based CCAA and that's how UCD was in the CCAA for a while?

The Ags have lost this one. There must be some concern for Pepper's long range shooting. Counting today's game so far, he's shot 10 of 39 from beyond the arc since the game against Sac State. You have to wonder if the pressure to pass Audwin Thomas is in his head.

Rocak playing tough on offense to start the second half, getting some great rebounds and put-backs. I wish he would show his jump shot from the key, where he is often open.

I would like the NCAA to have the officials explain why a technical is called in addition to the player or person on whom it is called. Doesn't need to be detailed, but when it's something that a player or coach says, the ref should say "player spoke objectionaly to a referee." If an act that is not apparent then something equally descriptive.

An earlier schedule I have shows us playing UC Merced today, but now I see that the UCM game has been moved to Thursday.
  • MBB: Aggies (3-5) @ Pacific 4-7) 2 pm Saturday 12/16
I was just looking at the box score and noticed that the Ags out-rebounded Pacific 32-16. Can that be right? Milling, Lose and Tamba combined to grab 21. Looking at the Tigers roster, I note that they started 5 guards and subbed 4 more with their 6' 11" senior playing only 13 minutes. Almost like they were conceding rebounds.

A win is a win, but I don't see this as being an about face. First, Pacific is simply not very good. Second, the Ags are still turning the ball over carelessly and missing too many free throws. Third, Pepper went 2 for 9 from 3, despite making 19 points. We need him to find the range before conference play begins. I don't think we can count on T Y making 5 3s again. He just had the hot hand and Pepper is cold. (Which reminds me of the conclusion that a pair of economists made that there is no such thing as a "hot hand" based on a correlational analysis based on a weak premise. They are wrong.)

The color guy is Bob Thomason? I think he was the head coach of Pacific when they were in the Big West. He knows his basketball, but he sounds very judgmental using "should" a lot instead of simply explaining what happened.

I guess Adebayo is still out with an injury. Tamba is doing fairly well in his place after a rocky start. He has 4 boards.
  • MBB: Aggies (3-5) @ Pacific 4-7) 2 pm Saturday 12/16
TY 3 for from 3! Where has that been all year. Ags take the lead in an 18 point turn-around.
  • MBB: Aggies (3-5) @ Pacific 4-7) 2 pm Saturday 12/16
If the Ags have been working on their free throw shooting, it is not apparent so far and Pepper is still in what I think is a shooting slump.
  • MBB: Aggies (3-5) @ Pacific 4-7) 2 pm Saturday 12/16
I only went to Stockton to see the Ags play Pacific once. I remember the court as being in the city for some reason. I wonder where they play now. I want to see if it's the same place I remember.
  • Transfer Portal 2024
I'm pretty sure this is the new reality, at least, as long as players continue to insist that they have rights, which could be (and should be) until they get paid as some have suggested, which might make them bound by some kind of contract.
  • Transfer Portal 2024
Just generally, I do not like how the transfer portal makes it so easy for student athletes to move from school to school. Specifically, I do not like how many young men at UC Davis eschew the benefits of a first rate education to move to schools (not names Cal or Stanford) for, what? More playing time? More NIL income? Dislike of a coach? What happened to the whole idea of commitment?
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
Why are all of the Dakota teams always so good? They.re like the Alabama/Georgia of the FCS.
  • MBB: Milwaukee (3-6) @ the Aggies (3-4) 2 pm Saturday 12/09
Nuts! No sense in watching the replay, but the ESPN play-by-play site shows that T Y committed a foul with the game tied and 2 seconds left to allow the Panthers to win it with free throws. Is that the wholes story? (Although I do see that the Ags finished 3 of 18 from 3.
  • MBB: Milwaukee (3-6) @ the Aggies (3-4) 2 pm Saturday 12/09
Very frustrating half after they got off to such a good start. So many blown layups. I counted 10 points worth, so it could be 45-39, Aggies. Hope when I get back I can see that the team made the necessary corrections, got their focus back.
  • MBB: Milwaukee (3-6) @ the Aggies (3-4) 2 pm Saturday 12/09
Not exactly a shooting clinic. The two teams are a combined 2 for 16 from beyond the arc. Pepper is 1 for 4 and he has been having trouble finding his shot in recent games, I guess as teams focus on him.
  • MBB: Milwaukee (3-6) @ the Aggies (3-4) 2 pm Saturday 12/09
How does a guy who is 7 feet tall miss an uncontested dunk? Oh well, at least TY is playing up to his game against Milwaukee last year.
  • MBB: Milwaukee (3-6) @ the Aggies (3-4) 2 pm Saturday 12/09
Last year, the Aggies lost to Milwaukee in Wisconsin despite T Y Johnson's 32 points. The Panthers shot a blistering 62% from beyond the arc. What I recall from that game and seems to be their pattern this year is that they have a deep bench, with some high scoring guards coming off of it. Still, I hope the fact that the Ags are at home this time will make a difference. Wish I could see the whole game, but I have a major commitment and will miss the second half.
