The defense wasn't great either. To emulate CA Forever, I don't want to be too harsh, but I put most of the fault on the D-line. Even though the secondary made some great plays on the ball, they gave Hays too much time in the pocket and he picked us apart. The D-line never got enough pressure and was unable to stop the ISU running backs at the point attack. It didn't help that they didn't know how good Hays was. For a freshman starting his first game, against a top 10 team, no less, you have to give the kid a ton of credit.

Sometimes the better team loses to a team that just plays better. So much psychology involved in sports.

Never say die. I was at the 1972 against what was then Cal State Hayward and UCD was down by 15 with 2 minutes to go. Bob Biggs led them to two TDs and 2 2-pt. conversions for the win, but I had left the game. I haven't given up on the Aggies ever since.

Hastings makes a lot of sense considering how well he's played, how Tompkins does not seem to be the answer and how poorly Hunter Rodrigues has played. The other Hunter (Hays, of ISU) has a passer rating of 191.6. To me, a huge difference has been the line play--both lines--for the Bengals. Are we sure these aren't the Cincinnati Bengals?

I wonder if Ags came into this game feeling over-confident? Hope that they come out with some fire in the second half or this could be a huge upset.
