Sagarin ratings are pure points, no stats. UCD rated highly due to game scores and our opponents scores against their opponents, But the stats support the ranking. They’ve played good teams close and lost and they’ve played bad teams and run up big margins. What we haven’t seen yet is beating a good team.

TT played at at Northern Colorado. We’ve not seen Jaylin White or Noa Masui since Cal game, they’re both in the depth chart, as is Tattersall who was said here to be out for the season,

Some observations about players injured, absence due to injury, or return from the NC game.

Guys who might have been injured against N. Colorado:
Peter Povey. What did Povey’s injury appear to be? He left the field during an injury break on the broadcast, but perhaps the radio broadcast mentioned how he got off the field?
Chaz Davis might have injured his arm, he left after getting hit making a catch and didn’t see any more action.

Guys who might have missed the game with a recent injury:
Chubba didn’t start had no stats but was listed as appearing
Mouisset didn’t play, Hawkins said Calvin was out if I heard him right

Guys returning from injury:
Ambagtsheer played for the first time this year
Buchanan is back.

There are.a other guys we have lost along the way.

My guess is that Davis is going to take advantage of the young Cal Poly defensive backs. Davis, surprisingly, is now leading the big sky in yards passing per game, and is second in efficiency. Cal Poly is next to last in passing yards allowed per game. They do have five interceptions so have to be carefully. The Cal Poly commentator on the broadcast stressed how many freshmen they’re playing 60 plays a game. I think Davis will exploit their inexperience.
Run game should work too, but they’re middle of the road in run defense.

We haven’t beat anyone who’s having a good season, our best win is against Northern Arizona and they’re 3-5 and even San Diego is just 3-3.
Sagarin has us as the #11 FCS team but that’s just on comparative scores, not who you’ve beat, which affects the non algorithmic polls.

What were they doing with the QBs against Eastern? I watched a bit of it but why wasn’t their starter in for more than one completion?

Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado both ran the ball better against Davis than they averaged in other Big Sky games, so that’s concerning.
Northern Colorado had been gaining 2.9 yards per rush against UCD they gained 5.3.
But rather than dominating the totals, Davis dominated in turnovers, scoring every time in the red zone, and big plays.

I don’t think so, not on the participation list.

Davis is rated as the 14th best FCS by Sagarin’s method based on scores and schedule, which ignores wins and losses. We’re sixth best in the Big Sky, just behind Idaho.

Their QB is pretty good, but short. I think their problems are more on defense. Their win was against a team of a level that’s comparable to our wins

Northern Colorado was within 3 of Idaho after the middle of the third quarter.
Idaho State and Lamar are their two wins, and the only W for either of those teams is Idaho State beat Cal Poly.
Elija Dotson, a transfer from Sac State was Big Sky Special Teams player of the week after the Idaho State game in which he had over 200 yards of total offense.

I watched the first half. Three Interceptions, one a pick six and another at midfield that led to a field goal and the third ended a drive deep into Hamilton territory. Except for the Ints Calgary was dominating,

I wish Tompkins had shown more of an ability to throw on the run. Could Tompkins have made that pass while running? Probably but I’m not sure.
When Tompkins is back and taking the wildcat direct snap and Hastings is moved to receiver, they’ll have to cover Hastings.

Larison and Poerio didn’t start. But the three wide receivers that did start also had very productive games.
Hutton caught 2 for 64 yards a TD, and added a TD rushing.
Kraft caught 2 for 41 yards and they were tough catches.
Davis caught 4 for 43 yards. Davis is a better player than I thought.
