• Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
Points scored after a game is decided don’t mean much
Happy to note that the playoff commitees computer method quoted on this board didn’t reward point differential past 21 points.
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY

California has almost 10 times the GDP of Colorado
    I now see it’s a private company

Because we need the money for the Governor’s pension
  • Week 12: CAUSEWAY
Our big fire last year in Santa Rosa had N Easterly winds. Minutes before the Camp fire started I was waiting for the bus in Santa Rosa and thought this is fire wind.

Their pattern this year is to be really tough to run on,
The real surprise was we couldn’t get anything going through the air. Multiple passes into double and triple covered receivers. I watched the first 3 and a half quarters and there were few plays to an open receiver.
Our defense also disrupted their offense but when their plays broke down they were able to improvise something. We need more speed on defense. We had guys chasing a QBs they couldn’t catch up to.

Anybody else miss having final stats pdf on the web site? With what’s up there now with a mobile device I can’t even find out who fumbled in the fourth quarter. Also ESPN is without stats.
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
I’m mostly surprised we couldn’t put a drive together. Take away TT and UG long runs and there was not much else.
Probably playing in a freezer had an effect. No pretty offense today

That and the athleticism turning nothing into something on their side
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
Their defensive line is breaking up the run and the jet sweeps by getting benetration.
When we throw downfield it’s been covered.
Hope Harrell only had wins knocked out by falling on the ball
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
Last few TDs for TT pretty much untouched. Hasn’t had to run through anybody. Hope we see that next!

The various picks basically comes down to the weight you put on blowouts. EWU certainly has games with large point differentials. The computer ranking systems like Sagarin rank them higher than UCD because they’re based on pure points. The systems that factor in wins like the commitee’s limit impact after 21 point differential and also factor in wins with a bonus for an FBS win and hence favor us. Human appraisals are influence by similar considerations, just more arbitrarily applied.

He’s probably right about the more desperate team. I hope they feel the pressure. Both teams have played equivalent schedules. Difference is they lost one more than we did. One of the bright spots for Davis is our very young offensive line which gets better with experience,

I’m suspecting the crowd will be more into it than say Cal Poly and other teams we’ve played on the road this year.

Very insightful. Hope you are right about comparable to NAU an Montana,
It’s encouraging that we scored three first quarter touchdowns against NAU, as that seem like a defense that would match up well against us. Hopefully we saw NAU best effort. I know we saw Montana’s best effort, they were fired up.

He’s listed in the roster portion of the same document as 245.
It’s not that we can’t figure out his weight, it’s that they don’t care that they have the same typo in nine iterations of game notes.

At least he’s not obscured by fog !

This is the best FCS offensive team we’ve faced except for possibly Idaho State.
And probably the best FCS defense we’ve faced.
And this is in the second most adverse environment trailing only Montana. Add those together and it’s quite a challenge.
Possibly offsetting that, we are clearly the best offense they’ve faced and their young QB hasn’t won a game against a defense as good as ours.
All in all a very unpredictable meeting of two potentially explosive teams. I think either team might blow out the other. I can see almost anything happening except a low scoring game. If it is low scoring I think they win. A low scoring game implies they can contain our offense and I think they are too athletic for us to shut down completely.
