• Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
I think the Montana State game will be a big one. We’ve lost five in a row to them. We’re still establishing ourselves in the league and regardless of the playoffs it’s important to beat the teams who’ve historically have had our number.
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Remember last winter we were recruiting a running back who took a late offer from Fresno, so the fact that we don’t have many running back NLI signees on our roster doesn’t mean they haven’t tried to recruit any, but they haven’t succeeded. Going from memory we have only four running backs that were offered scholarships out of high school, Gilliam, Thomas, Spencer ( recruited as wide receiver, converted this year to RB) and Figueroa, a true freshman we’ve never seen.
Recruiting two useable running backs in three recruiting years is obviously insufficient.

Not last week. Outscored NAU 37-7 in second half

I hope we more transfers from Cal or UCLA., same educational system so smooth transfer of academic credits. We’ve lost a few to UCLA, so it’s nice to see some moving our way.

He started the first game against us, but dropped to third in depth chart. Caught one pass last year, none this. 2018 recruiting class.
Was a three star recruit out of high school, for what that’s worth.

It says something about star rating when a 3 star is offered a preferred walk-on.

Eason played five years and started all 16 games in 1985.
I don’t think we can say he doesn’t deserve to have his name up there; maybe others are more deserving but we shouldn’t read too much into the order of selection, lots of deserving candidates.

I’d like to see Casey Merrill get recognized.
    Wikipedia:
Merrill spent nine seasons in professional football as a defensive end and outside linebacker. Blessed with exceptional speed (4.65 40 yard dash), Merrill became the first designated pass rusher in the NFL to line up and pass rush from both defensive line and linebacker positions. In the 1981 season Merrill had 7 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries for the Green Bay Packers. In the strike shortened 1982 season Casey had 4 sacks. In 1984 with the New York Giants, Merrill led all Giant defensive lineman with 11 sacks, including 1 in the playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers bringing Joe Montana down with a crushing hit.

Perhaps the criteria heavily favors NFL draft & career. Bo was a second round pick.
  • Select your 2nd favorite all time Aggie QB
Bob Biggs of course. Davis was just another Far Western Conference team prior to Biggs playing days.
    Bob Dunning:
The next year Biggs was pretty much the only quarterback the Aggies had, taking every snap and throwing every Aggie pass as he led the nation in passing on the way to a berth in the Boardwalk Bowl in Atlantic City.
Four times that season he threw for more than 300 yards, topped by a 399-yard performance against San Francisco State and 388 more against Massachusetts in the Boardwalk Bowl.

I hope Drakeley can play. Against SUU he was the leader among defensive linemen for tackles with four solo tackles, he seems to be a good run defender, as he said in 2010 profile “a brick wall with feet”.
Drakeley and De’andre Morgan were the only 260+ lb non-starter defensive linemen to play and Drakeley was the only one of those two to record a tackle.

Figueroa? I’ve wondered why we haven’t seen him but I don’t think he has had a carry.
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Big question mark is our running back situation.
    Gilliam left last game...injured?
    Troy Spencer didn’t play.... injured?
Tehran Thomas hasn’t played for several games... still out?
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Tehran’s loss is a huge factor. Leaves one back we can rely on and that limits play calling. In 2017 Tehran had sped and mass, looked like Chuck Muncie. He punished tacklers and had speed to get around the corner. We miss both aspects, although Gilliam is great running upfield.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
Let’s not go back two years to count players who aren’t here.

I think with the group of receivers we have you have to look elsewhere for our problem.
Harrell, Vaughn, Crawford have all had huge games this year. Babb is very good, makes great catches and scary after the catch.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
We were missing two of our top five receivers and I think Harrell is impacted by injury although playing; and we still put up 300 plus yards and 26 points in an almost penalty free the first half.
It is common in sports that a team with a huge lead gives most of it up late in the game. Doesn’t mean much.
We are limited in our ability to play conservative on offense due to our lack of depth at running backs and because that’s not our style.
  • Week 9: Weber State @ UC Davis
Sagarin’s two prediction algorithms pick this each way by less than two points.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
That’s too bad about Drakeley, he was getting a lot of playing time and seemed pretty good.
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
You are correct; it seems that a medical exception is not too hard to get, example Gage Gubrud last year who played in five games and had redshirted earlier in his career got a sixth year. So based on that anyone injured who missed 2/3 of his team’s games should apply for that.
I don’t think the five year rule is fair. A player should be able to interrupt their college career for personal reasons or to explore other options and Not lose eligibility. Drakeley for example should have three years eligibility remaining after this year.
